| ObjectiveAn acupuncture study, which compares conventional and acupuncture treatments for cervical vertigo,is currently being conducted.Evaluation of the differences in relevant evaluation indexes and clinical efficacy, and comprehensive evaluation of the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture treatment for cervical vertigo with blade needles, for reliable efficacy and patient convenience.MethodsThe cases included in this study were 68 patients who attended the outpatient and inpatient departments of the Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion of Hubei Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine(Guanggu Campus)between October 2019 and September 2021 and met the diagnosis and inclusion criteria of"cervical vertigo".In accordance with the randomized number table method, the patients were divided into two groups who received blade needles and those who received acupuncture treatments, with 34 cases in each group. In the blade needle group, the points were located at Baihui,Fengchi(about 5cm from the midpoint of the inferior occipital line),C2 spinous process and 1cm from both sides,C1posterior transverse process nodes(both sides),and C6-7interspinous points(both sides),and the treatment was carried out once every 3 days, and 2 treatments per week for 2 courses of treatment. In the acupuncture group, acupuncture points Baihui, jiaji(bilateral),Fengchi(bilateral),Tianzhu(bilateral),N eiguan(bilateral),Houxi(bilateral)were selected and treated once a day,6 times a week,6 times a course of treatment, each treatment interval of 1 day,for a total of 2 courses of treatment.Evaluation Scale for Cervical Vertigo(ESCV),Dizziness Handicap Inventory(DHI)and clinical efficacy of the two groups were recorded and evaluated before treatment, after 2 courses of treatment, and after 1 month of follow-up.SPSS25.0 was used to analyze the data involved in the study.Results(1)A comparison of the general age, gender, and duration of disease between the blade needle group and the acupuncture group showed no statistically significant difference, which could be compared(P>0.05).(2)Evaluation Scale for Cervical Vertigo(ESCV)score:(1)There was no statistically significant difference between the scores of the blade needle group before treatment compared with those of the acupuncture group, and they were comparable(P>0.05).(2)After 2 courses of treatment, the scores of the two groups improved significantly compared with those before treatment(P<0.05).There was statistically significant difference in the scores between the two groups(P<0.05)after treatment, and the scores of the blade needle group improved more significantly than those of the conventional acupuncture group(P<0.05).(3)In comparison with their scores before treatment, both groups showed significant improvements after 1month of follow-up(P<0.05).There was statistically significant difference in the scores between the two groups(P<0.05)after 1month of follow-up,and the scores of the blade needle group improved more significantly than those of the conventional acupuncture group(P<0.05).(3)Dizziness Handicap Inventory(DHI)score:(1)There was no statistically significant difference between the scores of the blade needle group before treatment compared with those of the acupuncture group, and they were comparable(P>0.05).(2)After 2courses of treatment, the scores of the two groups improved considerably compared with those before treatment(P<0.05).There was statistically significant difference in the scores between the two groups(P<0.05)after treatment, and the scores of the blade needle group had a greater improvement than those of the conventional acupuncture group(P<0.05).(3)After 1 month of follow-up,the scores of the two groups improved dramatically in comparison to their initial treatment(P<0.05).There was statistically significant difference in the scores between the two groups(P<0.05)after 1 month of follow-up,and the scores of the blade needle group improved more significantly than those of the conventional acupuncture group(P<0.05).(4)The clinical effectiveness of the treatment is thoroughly evaluated:The recovery rate and total effective rate of the blade needle group were 91.18%and 100%respectively,while the recovery rate and total effective rate of the acupuncture group were 67.64%and 88.24%respectively.Despite the fact that the clinical effectiveness of blade needles was significantly better than acupuncture, overall there was a difference in efficacy between the two groups(P<0.05).Conclusion(1)There was a significant reduction in cervical vertigo with the use of both acupuncture and blade needles.(2)Compared to conventional acupuncture, blade needle therapy is significantly more effective for treating cervical vertigo, and its long-term efficacy is more significant.(3)Blade needle has the advantages of powerful stimulation, less treatment times and high security, which is worthy of clinical promotion. |
