Objectives:To observe the clinical effect and security of conventional acupuncture combined with blade needle therapy at cervical Jiaji points in treating the peripheral facial paralysis. And to evaluate its effect on restoring the function of facial nerve. As a result, new ideas of acupoint selection and effective therapies will be provided for treating this disease. Methods:A total of 102 patients who met our standards were randomly divided into 2 equal groups, one group named observation group and the other named control group. There were both 51 cases in each group. In the control group, the conventional acupuncture therapy was given once every other day,3 times a week.In the observation group,on the base of the treatment as the control group, the blade needle therapy was applied to cervical Jiaji points once a week. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks.House-Brackmann grading system(HBGS),Toronto facial grading system(TFGS)and facial disability index(FDI)were adopted to judge the curative effect of two groups before and after the treatment.Meanwhile, the security of the two groups were oberserved during the whole study.Results:1.By comparing the improvement of HBGS in two groups, the total effective rate of the observation group was 93.5%,better than that of the control group(83.3%).There was significant difference between the two groups after treatment(P<0.05).2.After treatment, both groups showed improvement in the scores of TFGS,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was statistic difference in TFGS between the two groups after treatment(P<0.05),showing that the observation group was better.3.As compared with those before treatment, the scores of FDIP were higher and the scores of FDIS were lower after treatment(P<0.05).There was statistic difference between the two groups after treatment(P<0.05),showing that the observation group was better.Conclusions:1.Both the control group and the observation group were effective in the recovery of patients with PFP.2.The therapy combining acupuncture and blade needle therapy at cervical Jiaji points is a better method to treat PFP,which is reflected in enhancing efficacy, improving facial neuromuscular function, and recovering phycical and social function.3.The treatment of PFP with blade needle therapy Combined with Acupuncture is safe and effective, which has a certain clinical value.
