| Objective Observation after subcutaneous injection of thymosin α1 clinical efficacy and safety of combined topical imiquimod in multiple plantar warts. To compare the therapeutic difference between the combination and topical imiquimod alone and provide a safe and effective new idea for the treatment of recalcitrant, multiple plantar warts in the clinic. Methods The subjects included in this study were multiple plantar warts patients who visited the outpatient clinic of dermatology in the Tongde Hospital of Zhejiang Province between September 1,2020 and March 31,2022.A total of 44 patients were randomized into intervention(n=22)and control(n=22)groups.The intervention group received 2 weekly subcutaneous injections of thymosin α1 1.6mg combination topical imiquimod for a total of 12 weeks treatment; The control group was treated with imiquimod alone 3 times a week for a total of 12 weeks of treatment and was followed up 12 weeks after the end of treatment.Treatment efficacy was evaluated based on changes in the number of warts, the diameter of warts, and pain before and after treatment by 3 physicians and patients. The differences in efficacy, safety of the two treatment regimens were finally compared, while the data were collated and statistically analyzed. Results 1.Clinical efficacy:after a total of 12 weeks of treatment, the cure rate was 40.9%in the intervention group and 13.9%in the control group.According to the clinical observation and data analysis, the treatment effect of the intervention group on multiple plantar warts was significantly better than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).2.Safety:after follow-up observation,a small number of patients showed mild erythema locally after imiquimod application, which resolved spontaneously after discontinuation, and no other adverse effects were observed, overall with a good safety profile. Conclusion Subcutaneous injection of thymosin α 1 both topical imiquimod combined and topical imiquimod alone are able to treat multiple metatarsals, with the former showing better clinical efficacy than the latter. In addition, both regimens had no toxic side effects and a high safety profile. |
