Clinical Study On Treatment Of Acne Vulgaris With Medicinal Thread Moxibustion

ObjectiveTo observe the clinical efficacy of medicinal thread moxibustion in the treatment of acne vulgaris and its difference in the treatment of different TCM syndrome types and different types of acne,in order to clarify the efficacy and clinical value of medicinal thread moxibustion in the treatment of acne vulgaris.So that medicinal thread moxibustion treatment is more widely used in the treatment of acne.MethodsSixty patients with acne vulgaris were recruited from the first affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of traditional Chinese Medicine and Guangzhou University of traditional Chinese Medicine.They were randomly divided into two groups: medicinal thread group(n=30)and fire needle group(n=30).Both groups received skin health care education before treatment.The medicinal thread group was treated with moxibustion based on syndrome differentiation of Zhuang medicinal thread,and the main acupoints were local acupoints and Yangming meridian acupoints of hands and feet.Main acupoints: Ashi acupoint(local lesion),Dazhui,Quchi(both sides).Acupoints(both sides are taken): lung meridian wind-heat syndrome: Shaoshang,Zhize;gastrointestinal dampness-heat syndrome:Zusanli,Yinlingquan;phlegm-dampness and blood stasis syndrome: Fenglong,blood sea.The fire acupuncture group selected the same acupoints for syndrome differentiation treatment.The patients were treated once every 5 days,10 days as a course of treatment,and3 courses of treatment were observed.Before and after treatment,the clinical efficacy was evaluated by comprehensive acne efficacy scale(GAGS),dermatosis quality of life questionnaire(DLQI),total effective rate and recurrence rate,and adverse events in the course of treatment were recorded.The data were analyzed by SPSS software.Results(1)Baseline comparison of general data of the two groups before treatment.After statistical testing,there was no statistically significant difference in gender,age,TCM syndrome type,GAGS score,DLQI score,acne score,papules score,pustule score,and nodular cyst score between groups(P>0.05),the baseline data of the two groups are balanced and have good comparability.(2)There was no significant difference in scores and clinical efficacy between the two groups after one course of treatment(P>0.05).After two courses of treatment,the total effective rate of the medicinal thread moxibustion group was 90.0%,which was higher than that of the fire needle group(72.4%),and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P=0.004).After 3 courses of treatment,the total clinical efficacy,GAGS score,DLQI score,and acne classification of the two groups were significantly improved,but the difference between the groups was not statistically significant(P>0.05).There was significant difference in the curative effect of gastrointestinal damp-heat syndrome between the two groups(P=0.008).Comparing the scores of acne types(acne,papules,pustules,nodular cysts)between the groups,the difference in scores of acne and pustules was statistically significant(P<0.05),and the medicinal thread moxibustion group had a better effect on acne and pustules.During the follow-up of 2 weeks after treatment,there was significant difference in the recurrence rate between the two groups(P=0.004).(3)No adverse events occurred in both groups.ConclusionMedicinal thread moxibustion therapy can effectively and safely improve the skin lesion score and quality of life of patients with acne vulgaris.Its effect on gastrointestinal dampheat syndrome acne,and acne and pustular acne are better than fire needle therapy.At the same time,it is better than fire needle therapy in terms of onset time and recurrence rate.Medicinal thread moxibustion has quick effect and lasting effect,both short-term and longterm effects are more significant.In practice,it has the advantages of short time,simple process and no obvious adverse reactions.This study provides a reference for patients with acne vulgaris to choose treatment methods,and expounds the clinical value of medicinal thread moxibustion,which is beneficial to the practice and popularization of medicinal thread moxibustion.
