Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of the Kaiqiao Tongfu acupuncture manipulation for the treatment of post-stroke constipation. Methods:Eighty patients with post-stroke constipation were selected, randomly divided into observation and control groups using SPSS software,40 in each group. Both groups received conventional treatments, base on it,the observation group was treated with Kaiqiao Tongfu acupuncture manipulation while the control group was treated with conventional acupuncture manipulation at a treatment frequency in both groups was one time daily for 6 consecutive treatments per week for 4 weeks(24 total treatments).Patients were observed before and after treatment for cleceland clinic score(CCS),spontaneous complete bowel movements(SCBM),patient assessment of constipation symptoms(PAC-SYM),patient assessment of constipation quality of life questionnaire(PAC-QOL),and modified Barthel index(MBI).The rating scales before and after treatment in the observation group and the control group were contrasted to analyze whether the treatment effects of the two treatments differed.Result:1.After treatment, the CCS score of the two groups decreased significantly(P < 0.01),suggesting that the treatment was effective in both groups. The results of inter-group comparisons showed that after treatment, the improvement in the score of the observation group was better than that of the control group(P < 0.05),suggesting that the treatment effect of the observation group was better than that of the control group. In the comparison of CCS items, the decrease of three observation groups including difficulty in defecating, difficulty in defecating, and abdominal pain was greater than that of the control group(P < 0.05),suggesting that the observation group was superior to the control group in improving the symptoms of constipation in patients.2.SCBM after treatment was 70.3% in the observation group and 50% in the control group, with no statistically significant difference(P > 0.05),suggesting that both the observation and control groups can improve the number of spontaneous bowel movements in patients.3.After treatment, the PAC-SYM decreased in both groups, with a highly significant difference(P < 0.01),suggesting that treatment was effective in both groups. The results of the inter-group study showed that the score of the observation group decreased more than that of the control group after treatment(P < 0.01),indicating that the therapeutic effect of the observation group was better than the control group.4.After treatment, the PAC-QOL scores of the two groups were decreased compared with before, and the difference was very significant(P < 0.01),suggesting that both groups were effective. The results of the inter-group study showed that the score of the observation group decreased more than that of the control group after treatment(P < 0.01),indicating that the therapeutic effect of the observation group was better than the control group.5.After treatment, the total MBI score of both groups increased(P < 0.01),the difference was statistically significant, suggesting that the activities of daily living of the patients were improved by both treatments. The results of the inter-group study showed that the score of the observation group increased more than that of the control group before and after treatment(P< 0.05),indicating that the therapeutic effect of the observation group was better than that of the control group.6.The overall response rate of the treatment was 91.9% in the observation group and61.1% in the control group, which was statistically significant(P < 0.05),suggesting that the observation group was superior in treating post-stroke constipation compared with the control group. Conclusion:Kaiqiao Tongfu acupuncture manipulation an reduce the severity of constipation in patients with post-stroke constipation, improve the clinical symptoms such as laborious defecation, poor defecation, and abdominal pain, improve the quality of life of patients, and improve the activities of daily living of patients, and its overall effective rate is higher than that of conventional acupuncture, which deserves clinical promotion and use. |
