| Cancer is a huge transition in the life course of cancer patients. After transition, the subjective interpretation of cancer patients to life course will change.Taking breast cancer patients as an example, this paper analyzes breast cancer patients from the perspective of life course theory, socioemotional selectivity theory and control theory,to explore the changes in the subjective interpretation of past life course and future life before and after cancer events, and to explore how the changes of subjective interpretation of individuals after transition drives them to regain the control of life. This paper uses the qualitative research approach, selects eight breast cancer patients as the interview objects and carries on the in-depth interview to the interview object through the semi-structured interviews, here are some findings: First, the process of the individual gradually adapting to the trajectory of the life course after the transition shows the changes of the individual’s subjective interpretation of his own life process. In the early, middle and later stages after the transition in the course of life, the interpretation of the previous life process shows as negative, neutral and positive attitude changes, and gradually accepts the new identity and role established after the transition.Second,Limited awareness affects individual social preferences and emotional management strategies, and at the same time plays an inherent driving role in the establishment of their own future social goals. Before and after suffering from cancer, the individual’s awareness of the future time is from abundant to limited, and the long-term life plan for the future turns to the present.Third, the occurrence of the transition leads to the lack of individual control, through the adjustment of psychological system, individuals gradually accept new identities and roles, change their social preferences and emotional management strategies, and regain the control of the current situation.Cancer is a major life event, and everyone needs to regain a sense of control over their lives,so they interpret their subjectivity in a variety of ways, including reinterpreting their past experiences and replanning their lives. It is the way for them to gain a sense of life control through subjective interpretation. |
