Part 1:The validity and reliability of the Chinese version of Mobile Phone Involvement Questionnaire(MPIQ)in college studentsObjectives:To test the validity and reliability of Chinese version of Mobile Phone Involvement Questionnaire(MPIQ)in college students. Methods:Amongst 2122 students of the college, their degree of phone dependence was assessed by the MPIQ.One months later,60 students were selected randomly, and they was assessed by the MPIQ,and the ROC curve was applied to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of different cutoff to seek the best cutoff.SPSS 23.0 was used for analyzing data.Results:(1)MPIQ scores were characteristic of a positive skew distribution and one-factor structure. In addition, the load scores of items were 0.54~0.77,the Cronbach’s a coefficient and the Spearman Brown split reliability were 0.84 and 0.83,the correlation co-efficients between items and total score were 0.54~0.76,and the test-retest reliability was 0.48(P<0.001).(2)The best cut-off score for the MPIQ was found at 32,the sensitivity and the specificity were 0.634 and 0.652.Conclusions:The Mobile Phone Involvement Questionnaire(MPIQ)has better validity and reliability and could be used for screening college student. The preliminary discussion on the best cut-off is divided into 32 points, which can provide a preliminary reference for the Chinese version of MPIQ classification whether mobile phone dependence.Part 2:Relationship between Mobile Phone Dependence and Sleep Quality of College Students:The Mediating Role of Bedtime Mobile Phone UseObjectives:To explore the relationship between mobile phone dependence and sleep quality, and to investigate the role of bedtime mobile phone use in the relationship between mobile phone dependence and sleep quality. Methods:Amongst 2122 students of the college, their degree of phone dependence and sleep quality was assessed by the MPIQ and PSQI.SPSS 23.0 was used for t-test,Mann-Whitney U test,chi-square,Pearson correlation coefficient analysis,Spearman rank correlation coefficient analysis. And the Model4 of SPSS macro program PROCESS was used for mediation effect analysis.Results:(1)Amongst 2122 students of the college,414(20%)had sleep disturbances. There was no statistical difference in sleep detection rate among students by gender, profession and BMI.The detection rate of sleep disorder, total score of PSQI and seven sleep factors of mobile phone dependence were statistically different(P<0.001).(2)The total score of MPIQ was positively correlated with the total score of PSQI(r=0.245,P<0.001)and bedtime mobile phone use(r=0.421,P<0.01).There was a significant positive correlation between bedtime mobile phone use and the total score of PSQI(r=0.184,P<0.001).mobile phone dependence significantly and positively predicted poor sleep quality.Bedtime mobile phone use partially mediates the association between mobile phone dependence and sleep quality, which accounted for 21.82%of the total effect. Conclusions:By reducing college students’ dependence on mobile phones(such as reducing the frequency and time of using mobile phones)and the bedtime mobile phone use can improve their sleep quality.
