| Caregivers of children with major diseases are often less able to cope with adversity when faced with the risk of illness,psychological and emotional breakdown,and the burden of economic pressure.In this paper,major diseases are defined as those with a long treatment cycle,poor prognosis,long-term support from caregivers,and huge medical expenses that seriously affect the normal work and life of patients’ families in this paper.What other risk factors do caregivers of children with major diseases face in this context of adversity?What support is needed to improve the resilience of caregivers?How can medical social workers improve the resilience of caregivers of major diseases in clinical practice?What is the role of professional social workers in improving the resilience of caregivers of children with major diseases?These problems have become the concern of researcher.Based on the above considerations,this study explores the life world of caregivers of children with major diseases,and takes advantage perspective as the theoretical perspective of this paper.Firstly,it explores how caregivers cope with various problems and challenges in the face of adversity of children with major diseases.Specifically,through qualitative research methods,the author conducted in-depth interviews with caregivers of children with serious diseases.Through the collection and analysis of interview data,the author combined the discussion on protective factors and risk factors of resilience from the strength perspective,to show the process of how the caregivers of children with major diseases in the face of the challenge of children have a sick is to transfer the protective factors against risk factors.In case work intervention study,through the preliminary data of assessment and analysis,combining with 10-items Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale,the author emphasis to improve the ability to adapt to life changes,the ability to overcome difficulties and the ability to deal with bad mood.At the same time combining advantages under the perspective of protection and risk factors of influencing factors,construct the intervention model to promote the resilience of caregivers of children with serious diseases.The present study suggests that under the intervention model,the caregivers resilience have improved,particularly in the ability to adapt new life,the ability to overcome difficulties and the ability to deal with bad feelings.However,the improvement of these ability are affected by the personal initiative,the disease condition,the influence of cultural factors.Finally,we further reflect on theory and practice,to explore the function and implication of the results of the study of social work practice,and then to make suggestions for intervention of medical social work to improve the resilience of caregivers of children with serious diseases,and in order to improve the current service of medical social work on children with serious diseases. |
