| ObjectiveTo explore the effectiveness of combination of filiform-fire needle acupuncture and acupoint catgut embedding therapy compared with external use of metronidazole on acne with disproportion of Chong and Ren meridian, and to provide the basis for clinical selection and optimization of treatment.MethodsA total of 50 patients with acne of type of disproportion of Chong and Ren meridian were randomly divided into two groups, namely the group of filiform-fire needle acupuncture plus acupoint catgut embedding and the group of metronidazole.Twenty-five patients in each group were treated once a week for a total of 4 times. The patients filled in the GAGS score,TCM signs and symptoms score and CADI score scale before and after the treatment, and after the treatment, researchers evaluated the effectiveness of the two kinds of intervenes by analyzed the data.ResultsIn the intra-group comparison, the scores of GAGS,TCM signs and symptoms and CADI of the two groups after treatment had been improved when comparing with those before treatment, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).In the comparison among groups, the P values of GAGS scores difference,TCM signs and symptoms score differences and CADI scores difference before and after treatment were 0.384,0.278 and 0.949 respectively, showing no statistical significance(P>0.05).ConclusionBased on this study, the effectiveness of filiform-fire needle acupuncture combined with acupoint catgut embedding therapy on acne of type of disproportion of Chong and Ren meridian is definite.Compared with external use of metronidazole, the difference wasn’ t statistically significant. However, the filiform-fire needle acupuncture combined with acupoint catgut embedding therapy was safer and could be used for a long time.Further research is needed to see if the treatment has the same effect on other types of acne. |
