| Diseases and medical problems are closely related to people and society.As the cultural and political center of the late Qing Dynasty,the rich medical resources and interpersonal networks in Beijing and Tianjin created the unique medical behavior of the official family in Beijing and Tianjin in the late Qing Dynasty.There are a large number of diaries and family letters of officials in Beijing and Tianjin,which involve all aspects of politics,economy and culture in the late Qing Dynasty,as well as the daily clothes,food,housing and transportation of official families in the late Qing Dynasty.Among them,there are rich records on the medical behavior of officials themselves and their families.Using the methods of historical data analysis,comparative analysis and induction,this paper combs the disease response of non-medical channels and disease treatment activities of medical channels in the official homes of Beijing and Tianjin in the late Qing Dynasty,so as to restore the picture of their medical life.In terms of disease response through non-medical channels,official homes in Beijing and Tianjin often do not seek medical treatment at the beginning of their illness,but first carry out self-treatment in the family environment,mainly including laissez faire or relying on diet,using folk earthwork,purchasing proprietary medicine,self prescribing treatment with reference to medical books,and sometimes making wishes,prayers,spells Summoning souls and other unconventional ways to resort to psychological comfort.When the disease cannot be cured through non-medical channels,the official home will carry out disease treatment activities through medical channels,and intervene more in the selection of doctors and the process of disease treatment.The official family occupies a great initiative in the interaction between doctors and patients.Within the official family,the influence of family members is different.In addition,the cognition of official families in Beijing and Tianjin in the late Qing Dynasty on traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine is also one of the research contents of this paper.Under the background that western medicine had a great impact on the medical society in Beijing and Tianjin,official families held different attitudes towards western medicine.Some people were cautious and skeptical,while others recognized it to a certain extent.There is not enough research on the thought and behavior of officials in the late Qing Dynasty.This paper aims to restore the medical behavior of official homes in Beijing and Tianjin in the late Qing Dynasty through the investigation of non-medical disease response,medical treatment and Western medicine. |
