With the development of society and the aggravation of population aging, more and more families begin to keep pets. However, due to the pet owners’ lack of experience in breeding and the weak concept of prevention and treatment of pet diseases, more and more dogs suffer from disc herniation, which not only reduces the quality of life of the pet,but also brings great troubles to the pet owners. There is a lot of information about the incidence of disc herniation in dogs abroad, but the data is too old.In this paper, the incidence of intervertebral disc herniation in dogs in a pet hospital in Shanghai was investigated, including age, breed, gender, location, type and degree of nerve injury And for the diagnosis and treatment of typical cases,to explore the treatment effect of conservative treatment and surgical treatment for dog disc herniation. This paper collected in January 2018 to December 2020 Shanghai partner pet hospital during the period of 134 were diagnosed with intervertebral disc herniation, and selected the since January 2019 to December 2020 during the records of 96 cases,a complete statistics of its breed, age, sex, blood test report, parts, disease types and nerve damage.Disease types for Hansen’s Ⅰ,Hansen’s Ⅱ,Hansen’s Ⅲ and single disc herniation and disc herniation two classification;Nerve damage degree can be divided into Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ,Ⅴ level; In addition,81 cases with treatment results were studied according to the classification of recovery, improvement, ineffectiveness and death of different nerve injury degrees. The typical cases were analyzed. Results: The highest incidence of disc herniation in Shanghai area was 22 poodles(22/96,22.92%).The incidence in male dogs(65/96,67.7%)was higher than that in female dogs(31/96,32.3%).Most of the patients were aged 3 years(15/96,15.6%)and over 10 years(21/96,21.9%).T13-L1 level as the highest incidence position(27/96,28.1%)Ⅰ cases of nerve injury in 7 cases(7/96,7.29%),Ⅱ levels of nerve injury cases have 23 cases(23/96,23.9%),Ⅲ levels of nerve injury cases have 26 cases(26/96,27.1%),Ⅳ levels of nerve injury cases have 27 cases(27/96,28.1%),Ⅴ levels of nerve injury cases have 13 cases,13.5%(13/96);Hematology reports were within the reference range;Hansen’s Ⅰ type of 43 cases(43/96,44.8%),Hansen’s Ⅱ type of 52 cases(52/96,54.2%),Hansen’s Ⅲ type1 case,1.0%(1/96);There were 55 cases of multiple disc herniation in the same dog(55/96,57.3%),and 41 cases of single disc herniation(41/96,42.7%).There were 32 cases(32/134,23.8%)with radiographic records and diagnosis of herniated disc in dogs in 2018,40 cases(40/134,29.9%)in 2019,and 62 cases(62/134,46.3%)in 2020.The ideal outcome of Conservative treatment was 32 cases(32/45,71.1%)and surgical treatment was 39 cases(39/43,90.7%).Conclusion: The incidence of intervertebral disc herniation in dogs in Shanghai is increasing year by year, and the breed with the highest incidence is poodle The peak of chondrodystrophy is around 3 years old, while the peak of non-chondrodystrophy is over 7years old Male dogs have a higher incidence than female dogs.T13-L1 was the most common site Nerve damage degree focused on Ⅱ Ⅲ,Ⅳ level Is the main type of Hansen’s Ⅰtype and Ⅱ type Nerve damage in Ⅲ below level,it is recommended that the choice of internal treatment Nerve damage degree above levels Ⅲ or Ⅲ,suggested that the surgical treatment is given priority to,Conservative treatment and rehabilitation.
