The purpose of this article is to diagnose CT images of dogs diagnosed with disc herniation, and to summarize the methods of CT scan canine spinal diseases combined with related literatures at home and abroad, and to provide some ideas for clinical CT diagnosis of disc herniation. And analyze the correlation between the three CT indexes and the severity of clinical signs of canine intervertebral disc herniation. To investigate the actual clinical value of three indexes in the diagnosis of disc herniation; And use CT to scan the spine of a normal dog and create a spine anatomy reference map.The clinical diagnosis of canine disc herniation is based on animal clinical signs and neurological examinations.Neurological examination includes spinal cord reflex, proprioceptive and deep pain assessment, and the severity of clinical signs of animals is divided into five levels(level I-Normal diet, can walk, but the spine feels allergic and occasionally painful;Grade II-diet is reduced, reluctant to exercise, spinal pain is sensitive, ataxia occurs;III-hind limb or limb extremities, surface and deep pain, flexor reflexes weakened Grade IV-paraplegic or quadriplegia hind limbs, deep pain reduced, flexion reflexes disappear;V-paraplegia or quadriplegia,no deep pain, urine can not be autonomous. In this study,68 cases of dogs diagnosed with herniated discs were subjected to neurological examination and the number of cases distributed according to the level of impairment was counted. The 16-row CT produced by GE is used to select a layer thickness of 1.25 mm and the layer spacing is 2.5mm for scanning.Three kinds of indicators were used for the selected CT image results: 9 types of manifestations(prominence type, nucleus pulposus compression nerve root pattern, nucleus pulposus protrusion pattern, and pathological changes(uplift/mountain/cauliflower),cling/compression /Correlation,prolapse/ejaculation/disassociation,and clinical disease severity,The SPSS 19.0 was used for multiple independent sample non-parametric correlation tests to verify whether the CT indicators were related to the severity of clinical signs. For CT scan dog spine methods, including animal preparation, preparation before CT scan, animal placement, program selection were summarized; Then A 2-year-old adult Beagle was selected to scan the whole spine in accordance with the above method, and CT images of different vertebral bodies were observed. The SPSS 19.0 analysis showed that the severity of the thoracolumbar disc herniation signs in dogs and the shape of the protrusions, the way the nerve core compresses the nerve roots, the type of nucleus pulposus protruding can cause the clinical severity of canine lumbar disc herniation caused by three CT indexes. There was a significant correlation,P value < 0.01.According to the shape of the protrusions, the bulge type and edge smoothness mainly include I and II,which may be partially broken with the annulus fibrosus, bulging due to filling of the nucleus pulposus, weak compression force on the spinal cord, irregularity of the hilly shape, and edges.Cauliflower-like,isolated islands with mostly III-V,may be associated with rupture of the dorsal longitudinal ligament, nucleus pulposus-induced compression;from the point of view of the type of nerve root oppression of the nucleus: close to the clinical signs are mostly I,II,nerve root Compression and adhesions cause more clinical signs of II-IV.Prominent types of nucleus pulposus: prominent mostly I,II,prolapse, free in the spinal canal III-V,may be associated with nucleus pulposus wear and spinal cord injury caused by severe spinal cord injury.By looking at the CT indicators for the CT diagnosis results, the severity of the clinical signs of the cases can be roughly estimated. The correlation analysis of the severity of the signs obtained in this article and the optimization of the procedures for the CT examination of the intervertebral discs in the dogs and the creation of a reference map of the spine have enriched the CT diagnosis of spinal diseases to a certain degree, and hope to provide some help to clinicians.
