Study On The Contribution Of Forestry For Farmers To Get Rid Of Poverty In The South Of Shaanxi Province

Forestry poverty alleviation plays an important part in poverty alleviation,especially in poor mountainous areas.Abundant forest resources provide conditions for local farmers to escape poverty.With abundant forest resources,forestry poverty alleviation has remarkable achievement in southern Shaanxi.While developing forestry,it can not only drive farmers to get rich,but also give full play to the ecological and social benefits of forest.High-quality development of forestry can ensure that the people who have been out of poverty will not return to poverty,and then promote rural revitalization.Based on the theory of sustainable development and the anti-poverty theory with Chinese characteristics,this paper considered registered impoverished households in southern Shaanxi by the questionnaire investigation and field research.264 households are investigated in 2016 and a total of 218 valid samples was collected.64 households are investigated in 2020 and a total of 63 valid samples was collected.This research analyzes the contribution of forestry to farmers’ income and the contribution of different ways of poverty alleviation to forestry income by studying farmers’ income composition,ways of poverty alleviation in forestry and the influencing factors of farmers’ contribution to forestry poverty alleviation.The purpose of the research is to find out the ways the extent to which forestry approach contributes to poverty alleviation.The conclusions are as following:During the period of targeted poverty alleviation,the income of impoverished households comes from agriculture,forestry,animal husbandry and aquaculture,labor and others.The order of their contributions is labor,forestry,others,agriculture,animal husbandry and aquaculture.The order of their contribution degrees is forestry,labor,animal husbandry and aquaculture,agriculture,and others.The contribution of agriculture,forestry,animal husbandry and aquaculture,and labor to farmers’ poverty alleviation has increased.The forestry poverty alleviation income of impoverished households comes from characteristic economic forest,non-timber forest based economy,forestry ecological engineering and other forestry poverty alleviation.The order of their contribution is forestry ecological engineering,non-timber forest based economy,characteristic economic forest and other forestry poverty alleviation.The order of their contribution degrees is forestry ecological engineering,characteristic economic forest,other forestry poverty alleviation,non-timber forest based economy.The contribution of characteristic economic forest and forestry ecological engineering to poverty alleviation has increased.Pearson test is used to analyze the correlation between the average total household income and forestry income in southern Shaanxi.The results show that the contribution of forestry,labor and other income to the average total income of households is significant,while the contribution of agriculture,animal husbandry and aquaculture to the average total income of households is not significant.Moreover,the impact of other income on the average total income of families is greater than that of forestry,and greater than that of labor.The contribution of non-timber forest based economy and forestry ecological engineering to poverty alleviation income is significant,while the contribution of characteristic economic forest and other forestry poverty alleviation methods to poverty alleviation is not significant,and the impact of developing non-timber forest based economy on forestry income is greater than that of forestry ecological engineering.Multiple linear regression analysis is used to analyze the influencing factors of farmers’ contribution to forestry poverty alleviation.The results show that the area of forest land and the development of non-timber forest based economy have a significant impact on the contribution of poverty alleviation,while the age of respondents,whether they participate in other forestry poverty alleviation projects and whether they join farmers’ professional cooperatives have no significant impact on the contribution of poverty alleviation.On the whole,there are some problems in the process of poverty alleviation,such as the lack of self-development awareness of the poor,the relatively slow development of forestry,the imperfect forestry infrastructure and the imbalance of forestry industrial structure.In the follow-up consolidation of poverty alleviation achievements,we should stimulate the endogenous power of the people who have been out of poverty,strengthen the construction of forestry ecology,make diversified use of forestry resources,balance the forestry industrial structure,and promote the implementation of Rural Revitalization Strategy.
