As the problem of aging becomes more and more serious,it has become an important issue in today’s society to actively respond to the aging of the population and to continue to meet the growing consumer needs of the elderly. The rapid economic development of our society has accelerated the modernization of our cities, and this has led to many discomforts for the elderly, one of which is the difficulty of getting around. The rapid growth of the urban population has led to increasing traffic pressure and the difficulty of getting around is limiting the normal travel of the elderly. However, the current elderly scooter market is plagued with problems such as poor design, single shape, lack of innovation, and frequent traffic accidents, which have led to some places restricting the use of elderly scooters in a "one-size-fits-all" manner. How to solve these problems and provide a safer and more convenient elderly scooter service for the elderly,to improve their travel experience and reduce traffic chaos is the focus of this thesis. This thesis will focus on the problems of difficult travel for the elderly, inadequate travel services, and the single function of elderly scooters, combining product and service system theory, insight into the daily travel needs of the elderly in the community from the perspective of "daily life circle",and propose an innovative solution for the elderly mobility scooter system in the form of a combination of product and service. The research is divided into four parts: "theory analysis-product analysis-user research-design practice".The first part is theoretical research. This chapter systematically combs the origin, definition, and classification of product-service system, explores the birth sign of sustainable product-service system, and defines the concept, design process, and application of Methodology for System Design for Sustainability(MSDS)in this subject,to lay a theoretical foundation for follow-up research; Then it discusses the concept and relationship of daily travel and daily life circle of the elderly in the community, finds a reasonable division of "daily life circle" for the elderly, and lays a research foundation for follow-up research. The second part is the product analysis. This chapter first identifies the market opportunity gaps by understanding the concept and market environment of mobility scooters for the elderly;then combines the desktop research method to distinguish the types of elderly scooters and identify low-speed open elderly scooters as the research target;finally,it summaries the problems and shortcomings of the research target in terms of design and provides a relevant reference for design practice. The third part is user research. This chapter firstly understands the characteristics of the elderly at the physiological, psychological, and social levels with the help of the literature research method, and clarifies the target users;secondly uses the observation method, interview method, and questionnaire survey method to understand the travel characteristics of the elderly in different life circles, constructs three types of user role models: dependent, realistic and open, and combines the user journey map tool to dig out the user’s demand pain points and conducts The Kano questionnaire was then introduced to categorize and prioritize the functional demand elements of the travel service system using the Kano model;finally, the stakeholders involved in the elderly scooter product service system were sorted out so that the allocation and integration of resources could be better achieved. The fourth part is about design practice.Firstly, taking the results of the research, the design strategy was outputted by integrating the existing resources and subdividing the service mode, and building a model of the elderly scooter product service system;secondly, the business canvas was used to illustrate the sustainable operation of the system, and the service objectives of the system in the ideal state were shown through the service blueprint, which provided the service and technical support basis for the subsequent elderly scooter design practice and the function construction of the elderly daily travel service APP;Finally, the method of system availability test is used to evaluate the scheme and verify the effectiveness of the innovative scheme.
