| The spatial form of a traditional village is the outward expression of a pattern or order that has been passed down and continued over a long period of evolution. The northern section of Shaanxi along the Yellow Town Belt is located in the hilly and ravine area of the Loess Plateau, where the loess pile-up landform with thousands of ravines shows distinctive fractal characteristics, and the traditional villages in the area are also less affected by man-made planning due to this peculiar geographical environment, and have obvious self-organised growth characteristics. This paper refines the fractal characteristics of the spatial form of traditional villages in the study area by analyzing the fractal dimensional characteristics of typical traditional villages in northern Shaanxi along the Yellow Town Belt at different spatial scales, and summarizes and summarizes the spatial morphological characteristics of different types of traditional villages, based on which the problems of traditional village spatial form are judged, and finally proposes strategies for the optimization of traditional village spatial form in the study area.Firstly, this paper researches the topographic and geomorphological fractal characteristics of the northern part of Shaanxi along the Yellow Town Belt by using the box dimension method and GIS grid coverage method. The research results show that the northern part of Shaanxi along the Yellow Town Belt is a typical fractal landform, and the fractal landform has the most restriction on the spatial distribution and spatial morphological development of the traditional villages in the area, and plays a top-down overall control, and through the literature induction method,it is concluded that the different cultures in the regional culture gradually influence the lifestyles and behavioral habits of villagers in traditional villages in the long-term collision and inclusion, and further change the spatial layout and spatial form of villages.Secondly,by comparing the aspect ratios and shape index values of 25 traditional villages in the northern part of Shaanxi along the Yellow Town Belt, the spatial forms of traditional villages were finally classified into group-like forms,band-like forms and finger-like forms. The fraclab plug-in in MATLAB software is used to calculate the box-counting values of different types of typical traditional villages from three spatial scale levels and to conduct an in-depth study on the fractal characteristics of their spatial patterns, and the following conclusions are obtained.1.The group-like Yukou village is in the middle dimensional area, with a simple overall spatial form and a weak spatial balance and filling effect;the finger-like Liangjiahe village is in the low dimensional area, with a less complex spatial form and a looser spatial structure;the band-like Yanjiawan village is in the high dimensional area, with a higher spatial filling degree and a more complex spatial structure.2.In the 100m-50 m scale stratum, the large difference in fractal dimension values indicates that the overall morphology of the village varies greatly;in the 50m-25 m scale stratum, the difference between the fractal dimension values reflects the difference in the original spatial texture of the village and the degree of natural growth of the village from the bottom up;in the 25m-12.5m scale stratum, the scale is close to the scale of the building units and the The differences between the fractal dimension values are the smallest, reflecting the self-similarity of the building morphology in the northern part of Shaanxi along the Yellow Town Belt.3.All three typical traditional villages have small extreme difference values, indicating that the spatial patterns of traditional villages in the northern part of Shaanxi along the Yellow Town Belt perform well in terms of overall self-similarity and hierarchical coherence. In general, the spatial patterns of traditional villages in the northern section of Shaanxi along the Yellow Town Belt are characterized by orderliness,scale-invariance,self-similarity and complexity.According to the analysis of the sub-dimensional value characteristics of typical traditional villages at each scale,it is found that traditional villages still inherit the most original spatial texture and retain the initial spatial form during the development process, then the spatial texture characteristics of different types of traditional villages are analyzed.Based on the fractal characteristics of traditional village spatial morphology and spatial morphological texture characteristics,we thus judge the problems in the spatial morphology of traditional villages in the northern section of Shaanxi along the Yellow Town Belt: 1.fractal landforms restrict the spatial development of villages;2.artificial forces destroy the fractal characteristics of villages;3.village spaces are not compatible with people’s needs. Finally, before optimizing the spatial form of traditional villages in the northern part of Shaanxi along the Yellow Town Belt,we should focus on the protection of historical and cultural space and spiritual and cultural entities, and focus our attention mainly on the cultural core, and make appropriate adjustments and improvements to the living space under the premise of protecting cultural relics.Based on fractal thinking,we propose the optimization strategies of traditional village spatial forms: 1.create village forms based on fractal concept;2.create village environment with "essential culture".The spatial optimization strategies of the three types of traditional villages in the northern part of Shaanxi along the Yellow Town Belt, represented by the doughnut-shaped Yukou Village, the finger-shaped Liangjiahe Village, and the belt-shaped Zhenjiawan Village, are studied. |
