The opening, construction and operation of high-speed railways can greatly reduce the time cost of transit between cities. The high-speed railway lines extending in all directions are woven into a network, which promotes the flow and integration of human, material, technology, capital, market, and information and other element resources, and changes The spatial connection between cities, the competition and cooperation relationship and development pattern between cities within the urban agglomeration will be reshaped. As an important carrier of regional spatial development, the competition and cooperation between cities within the urban agglomeration are directly related to the growth of the urban agglomeration itself and the coordinated and linked development of the inner cities. The Yangtze River Economic Belt spans the three major regions of China, including east, middle, and west. The Chengdu-Chongqing urban agglomeration, the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration have high-speed railway constructions with obvious gradients. The inner cities of the three major urban agglomerations in the Yangtze River Economic Belt are the research objects.Exploring the influence of high-speed railway on the competition and cooperation between internal cities is representative. For this reason, the article will conduct research on it.First of all,the article combs the research on the relationship between high-speed rail and urban agglomeration space development, urban competition and cooperation, and provides a theoretical basis and support for subsequent analysis.Based on the description of the development of urban agglomerations, the article analyzes the dynamic mechanism of high-speed rail affecting urban competition and cooperation.Secondly,by querying the shortest time distance between cities, using social network analysis methods based on the gravity model to quantitatively study the evolution of urban spatial connections within the three major urban agglomerations in the Yangtze River Economic Belt under the influence of high-speed rail, and to measure the strength and method of connections between cities,Combination status, etc. Then,by constructing urban competitiveness indicators, using the Dendrinos-Sonis model and seemingly irrelevant methods to measure the relationship of urban competition and cooperation in the three urban agglomerations of the Yangtze River Economic Belt from a dynamic dimension. Finally, using the high-speed railway opening data and macroeconomic data of the three major city groups in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the impact of high-speed rail on the city’s competition and cooperation in the city group is empirically tested by constructing a multi-period double-differential econometric model. The study found that the construction of the high-speed rail network in the three major urban agglomerations of the Yangtze River Economic Belt has increased the overall network density within the urban agglomerations of Chengdu,Chongqing, the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, and the Yangtze River Delta. The spatial connections of the cities have been strengthened to varying degrees, but the inner space of the urban agglomerations The closeness of ties is not enough, and efforts are needed to achieve balanced development. Most of the central cities within the urban agglomerations have formed cooperative relations, and the interconnection and linkage effects of the cities are obvious;the cooperative relations between the central cities and other cities in the urban agglomerations are more obvious than the competitive relationship, and the central cities are playing a radiating and leading role; Some of the central cities have formed cooperative relations, some have formed competitive relations, and most of them are in the stage of reverse competition and cooperative relations, and there are few strong competition relations. The opening and construction of the high-speed rail has produced agglomeration and diffusion effects to varying degrees on the amount of external investment that characterizes the competitive relationship within the urban agglomeration and regional labor;it has a positive effect on the total passenger transport and the level of industrial specialization that characterize the cooperative relationship within the urban agglomeration.Impact: The impact of high-speed rail on the urban competition and cooperation within each urban agglomeration has a time effect, and there are certain differences.
