The development of metropolises will inevitably be accompanied by the evolution of metropolitan areas formed by the integration of urban and rural areas.Separation of work and residence has become a common phenomenon, which will inevitably intensify the demand for commuting in metropolitan areas. The development of suburban public transportation has become the most economical choice for the city, but this does not necessarily conform to the wishes of commuters. With the continuous increase of per capita income, commuters have a variety of different needs in commuting. Therefore, how to identify and meet the convenience of commuters in suburban commuting has become a major issue for cities to implement suburban public transportation strategies.Existing literature has studied public transportation commuting issues more from the aspects of efficiency, accessibility, and satisfaction. This article takes Beijing, the capital of our country,as the research object, trying to study the convenience of passengers in the commuting process from a more microscopic perspective. On the basis of integrating and combing the existing research and mechanism,it constructs the relevant variables to identify the convenience, and collects first-hand data through designing questionnaires and field investigations to obtain 383 valid questionnaires for passengers in Beijing suburbs as samples. The dual logistic model and the SEM structural equation model are used to empirically study the impact of commuting convenience on travel choices, and the changes in convenience caused by policy changes. The main conclusions are:(1)Convenience perception has an important influence on passenger travel. The convenience of passengers is embodied by five indicators:speed, economy, comfort, safety and service level. The empirical results of the binary logistic model verify this point of view.(2)The empirical results of the structural equation show that passengers’ perception of commuting convenience in suburban commuting in descending order is comfort, safety, and speed.Improving the comfort level of commuting is conducive to improving the convenience of commuting in suburban areas.Overall travel perception;(3)Passengers of different age groups have different perceptions of the above three indicators.Among them, older commuters have a stronger perception of comfort, while younger commuters are more concerned about speed and economy. But overall comfort is the most influential item;(4)The total travel time will affect the passenger’s perception of different indicators. As the distance increases, the time spent on the journey increases, and passengers’ perception of comfort will increase.Comfort is the core factor that affects the perception of passengers who take a long time to travel.(5)Travelers who are less affected by the degree of convenience perception under the three different policies are more likely to change their travel modes, indicating that these three policies can promote suburban public transport travel to a certain extent. The thesis proposes suggestions in terms of promoting commercial vehicles, developing customized services;improving the setting of bus stops and improving commuting efficiency;formulating differentiated supply strategies for people of different ages and different travel periods;increasing the number of suburban buses and strengthening subsidies. |
