Research On China’s Export Trade Potential Of High-end Manufacturing In Countries Along The "One Belt And One Road"

As a high-value industry in the "Belt and Road" initiative,high-end manufacturing is closely related to the upgrading of China’s industrial chain.Its development is important for promoting bilateral trade cooperation and development,promoting trade prosperity in the "Belt and Road" economic corridor,and creating new momentum for regional economic development It is of great significance.At the same time,in the context of international trade where trade protectionism is on the rise,the "Belt and Road" initiative is particularly important.Select China’s high-end manufacturing export trade to 51 countries included in the five major regions along the "Belt and Road" as the research object.Based on the panel data from 2003 to2019,the time-varying stochastic frontier model and trade inefficiency model are used to export high-end manufacturing industries.Conduct analysis and research to explore its trade potential,trade efficiency and its influencing factors.The study found that China’s high-end manufacturing export trade volume with trading partners along the route has achieved substantial growth,from 221 billion U.S.dollars in 2013 to 348.7billion U.S.dollars in 2019.However,trade efficiency is generally not high and there is great potential.Continue to tap,and the trade potential has significant regional differences.East Asia is the main export area,and the export trade volume accounts for more than 40% of the year.From the perspective of the influence factors of the trade potential,the economic scale of both sides of the trade is the main promotion factor of the trade potential.Geographical distance and the size of China’s population have a negative impact on trade potential;from the perspective of the driving factors of trade inefficiency,the level of infrastructure construction,logistics performance index and free trade agreements can help improve trade efficiency,while the customs procedure burden index,The proportion of international trade tax revenue and the government effectiveness index have a restraining effect on trade efficiency.For these reasons,this article proposes the following recommendations: keep on to promote infrastructure projects to improve transportation facilitation;continue to simplify export procedures and increase the level of trade facilitation;strengthen the construction of free trade zones with trading partners along the route.
