Study On The Design Of Outdoor Play Space For Children In Liangbizi Community In Chongqing

Playing games is a main form of children’s activities.It can meet children’s needs for physical and mental development in the process of growth,and exerts positive influence on their intelligence,cognitive level and social ability.Therefore,since the 17 th and 18 th centuries,there have been researches related to theories on children’s games,bearing far-reaching influence on the research of space and formation of rules for games.Game space bears children’s game behaviors,but with the development of urbanization in China,the increasing number of buildings contracts the area for children’s outdoor games,gradually narrowing their scope of activities to cars and indoors statically,so that children are prone to become solitary,introverted and detached.“Two-child policy” promulgated by China in response to changes in population structure leads to a severe disproportion of the number of children,the quantity and quality of game spaceCurrently,the utilization of game space in old communities is far from ideal.Old communities themselves have a lot of problems such as chaotic space functions,fragmented public space,neglect and disrepair of public game facilities,and the lack of outdoor game space for children,etc.,affecting the number of times and the quality of crowd interactive behaviors.In recent years,children’s rights and interests have received attention from all walks of life.In order to implement the requirements of Chinese Program for the Development of Children in China(2011-2020),a document released by the State Council,constructing children-friendly community game space meets not only children’s needs of growth in communities,but also the needs of urban construction progress.Against this background,this paper will clarify concepts related to game space through understanding the structure of outdoor game space for children in communities,make full use of the entertaining feature of game space,base itself on the principle of game generation for children and theories related to children’s body and outdoor environment,and analyze the correlation between the reasons of children’s playing games,their game behaviors and environmental space.It is found out that the relationship between children’s game behaviors and outdoor environment is in fact the interaction between their physical behaviors and space.The paper centers its discussion around this focus,and elaborates on children’s behaviors,ways and categories of games and the factors contributing to their games,so as to analyze the characteristics and existing problems in game space of communities in Chongqing.The paper finds out the patterns,summarizes the principles and strategies in designing children’s outdoor game space in communities,and applies them to practice.It takes the outdoor game space in Liangtingzi community,Shancheng Lane,Chongqing as the object of research and collects the needs of user groups through paying visits,conducting surveys and handing out questionnaires.In the end,it combines the principles and strategies of design in guiding practices,so as to provide children-friendly outdoor game space for Liangtingzi community.
