Research On The Design Of Children Activity Places In City Public Space

Physical and mental development of children affects the developmental level of the future society. During the physical and mental development of children, children activity places in city public space have a great influence on their development.Children activity places that meet the children’s needs have different degrees of influence on children’s physiology, psychology, intelligence, social intercourse, etc.Gaming is the most important activity during children period. The children’s activities at game places are also effective ways to promote children’s learning. Therefore, from the perspective of promoting children’s mental development, it has crucial and positive effects to research the design of children activity places in city public space.This topic starts the research from the aspects of children’s game places, children mental development, children gaming activity, etc. to analyze the crucial effects of children activity places in city public space on children development.(1) Research on theory of children activity places in city public space. The paper conducts analysis from children age range, the using group of children activity places,children mental development, social intercourse development, parent-child interaction,children psychology and environment-behavior studies, to provide theoretical basis for the design of children activity places in city public space.(2) Design contents of children activity places. The design contents of children activity places in city public space are mainly analyzed from area division of children activity places, including game areas, rest areas, interaction areas, etc. Through the comparison among parent-child game space, outside game space, game space of play field, children game space in living areas and public game space for exceptional children, it is possible to point out that different kinds of game space have different effects on children mental development. The design contents of children activity places include decoration of spaces and other service facilities as well, which provide reference basis for the design of children activity places.(3) Design rules of promoting children activity places in city public space. Thepaper analyzes various rules of children activity places in city public space: spatial humanization, practicability of spatial safety, interactivity of spatial experience,creativity of spatial culture and spatial accessibility, and puts forward strategies for promoting the design of children activity places in city public space according to the children’s needs of activity places.(4) Practical exploration of children activity places’ design in city public space.This paper takes Disneyland in Hong Kong as an example to make a design case study in the final part, which discusses the project outline of Hong Kong Disneyland, theme divisions, design features of parks, landscape design of parks, etc. Its purpose is to demonstrate the theories of children activity places and put them into practice. From them, design outlook of children activity places in city public space can be summarized: design with humanism, localization, technicalization and popularization.In this paper, the research is done on the four aspects mentioned above and the purposes are as follows: creating superior children activity places, promoting children metal development, drawing people’s attention about children activity places, and emphasizing that the research of children activity places in the future city public space is still the exploring aspect for designers.
