A Study On The Design Of Rehabilitation Garden Based On The Behavioral Characteristics Of The Elderly With Dementia

With the continuous development of aging,the total number of mentally handicapped elderly people in China is also increasing.So far,dementia has become one of the world’s "epidemics" and cannot be completely cured.This has undoubtedly had a serious impact on the families of patients and the country as a whole,and will also face significant financial expenditures.Based on this background,this paper takes the mentally handicapped elderly as the research object,from the point of view of the behavior characteristics of the mentally retarded elderly,through field investigation to understand the spatial needs of the mentally handicapped elderly and to study and analyze their psychological,physiological characteristics and behavioral activities,in order to be able to provide guidance and basis for the landscape design of the rehabilitation garden for the mentally handicapped elderly in China.The thesis is divided into 7 chapters,the first chapter is the introduction.It mainly introduces the research background,studies the present situation,clarifies the research direction and content,and combs the research framework.The second chapter is related to basic concepts and theories.Through combing and interpreting the relevant concepts,theories and related evaluation methods of the dementia and rehabilitation landscape,the role and value of the rehabilitation landscape to the dementia patients are clarified,and the theoretical basis is laid for the design of the rehabilitation garden for the mentally handicapped elderly.The third chapter is excellent case and field research and analysis.By selecting excellent cases of rehabilitation garden for the mentally handicapped elderly abroad,the paper combs out the design countermeasures that can be used for reference.And in the domestic focus on the selection of Beijing Zhangyou Huiyuan mentally retarded elderly care center conducted field research,mainly on the use of garden,garden elements attention,garden activities,patient activity capacity,activity location,activity location love and other aspects of investigation,summary and analysis,and the garden road and boundary,space design,factor design,plant configuration four parts of the evaluation.Combined with the excellent cases at home and abroad,the road system,functional partition and plant design of the rehabilitation garden of the mentally retarded old-age institution are discussed in order to provide useful guidance for the rehabilitation garden design strategy of the mentally rehabilitated old-age institution.The fourth chapter is to study the characteristics and behavioral activities of the mentally handicapped elderly.First of all,the psychological and physiological characteristics and needs of dementia patients are analyzed.Secondly,the time,activity type,activity flow and activity characteristics of the mentally handicapped elderly are observed and summarized in depth,and it is found that different types of mentally handicapped elderly have different spatial type preferences and the characteristics of passiveness,irregularity,aggregation and privacy.Based on the above research,it is concluded that the characteristics of the elderly with dementia and the important influence of behavior activities on the planning and layout pattern,transportation system,spatial function,service facilities and so on.The fifth chapter is the strategy of rehabilitation garden based on the behavior characteristics of the mentally handicapped elderly.Based on the above theory and research,seven design principles of the landscape design of the rehabilitation garden of the old-age institution based on the behavior characteristics of the mentally handicapped elderly have been formed,namely,the safety visual principle,the health and comfort principle,the easy-to-reach principle,the easy communication principle,the principle of homogeneity,the regional principle,the diversity and personality principle,and the corresponding design strategy is put forward around the seven design principles,which are combined with the relevant books and literature references.Chapter 6 is the design practice of Xi’an Old Age Rehabilitation Center.Through the practice design of Xi’an Old Age Rehabilitation Center,six functional zones,such as public leisure space and recreational activity space for the mentally handicapped elderly,and reasonable design of plants and various landscape elements,provide static help and dynamic healing for the mentally retarded elderly,so as to strengthen the rehabilitation effect.Chapter 7 is a summary,and the main conclusions of the article are drawn,pointing out the shortcomings and innovation points of this paper.This paper studies the physiological,psychological characteristics and needs of the mentally handicapped elderly,as well as the time,type,flow line and characteristics of behavioral activities,and provides suggestions for the design of the rehabilitation garden for the mentally handicapped elderly.
