Research On The Contemporary Rural Cultural Architecture Design Strategy From The Perspective Of Genius Loci

Under the social background of globalization and urbanization,some rural constructions in our country copy and blindly imitate urban ideas,leading to problems such as “one look in thousands of villages”.The lack of regional characteristics of rural architecture and the neglect of traditional culture make it difficult for villagers to have an emotional connection with new rural constructions,which in turn makes the villagers’ sense of identity and belonging to the village gradually become a sense of strangeness and loss.As a platform for villagers’ daily communication and cultural dissemination,rural cultural architecture has become an important issue worthy of attention.Especially since the policy of “new rural construction” was proposed,practical exploration of rural cultural architecture has continuously emerged,providing a large number of investigation samples for this research.This paper takes the case of rural cultural architectures produced in the third rural construction as the research object,which reflects the characteristics of rural places and is close to the real life of villagers.The research uses the methods of literature review,field investigation,case analysis,and induction to compare rural culture architectures from the perspective of Genius Loci.The design strategies and design techniques of the building’s image style,functional organization,emotional expression are summarized.The paper first carried out research on the theory of Genius Loci,and proposed that the characteristics of geographical location,human nature and belongingness of Genius Loci have guiding significance for the lack of sense of place in contemporary rural cultural buildings,and discussed the constituent elements and influencing factors of Genius Loci.Then,the article analyzes the specific strategies and thinking of the case to deal with the constituent elements of the place from the aspects of physical environment,behavioral activities,and the meaning of the place.At the same time,it explores the mechanism of influence elements of the place from the perspectives of recognizability,accessibility and diversity.On this basis,through the in-depth dismantling and horizontal comparison of the case,the article uses architectural graphic language and specific practice examples to summarize the common characteristics and multiple ideas of the cases.The research has drawn four main strategies: the dialogue of the place environment,the expression of regional culture,the care of behavioral psychology,and the reflection of public attributes.At the end of the article,the progress and predicament of contemporary rural cultural architecture practice are explained,and the future rural cultural architecture creation practice is prospected.The design of rural cultural architecture under the guidance of the theory of Genius Loci focuses on the creation of a sense of place.The building is related to the people,things and objects in the place to promote people’s sense of identity and belonging.This is both the starting point and the purpose of the design of rural cultural architecture.This article summarizes the design strategies and practical experience of contemporary rural cultural buildings from the perspective of Genius Loci,and puts forward the thinking directions that can be used for reference in the design of rural cultural buildings in the future.
