Genius Loci Of Waterfront

It is an important subject for modern architecture design to study the state of people's sensibility and spirit in space. Genius loci is a theoretical achievement in this field; we have to go deep into the space's material source to capture the essence of Genius loci. In this paper, in light of empathy and collective unconsciousness, to discuss the spirit prototype images of water. These original prototype images of spirit interact with realistic space, which produce the inherent logic and possibility of waterfront. It is stylist's task to respond to this inherent logic and make the possibility become real.The article is divided into three parts, which are subject theory, object theory and interact theory. In chapter I, I make water as the status of subject, the spiritual analysis of water is the basis of this article, and the water here in fact is the integration of material water and man's emotion, man is potential subject. In chapter II of object theory, we described other material compositions of waterfront. And in the chapter III, we discussed the interaction between subject and object. I bring forward the concepts of induced factor and assisted factor, to analysis the formation and features which represented by the Genius loci of waterfront. And In the end I give out some examples to prove my viewpoint.
