The complexity of highway alignment in mountainous area is high and the driving risk coefficient is high,which leads to frequent accidents and serious consequences.To a great extent,this situation threatens the mountain highway operation and the life and property safety of road users.And the traffic safety facilities are becoming one of the important factors affecting the traffic safety of mountainous roads.Because whether the traffic safety facilities play a role is reflected in the cognitive results of road users,the current research on traffic safety facilities is no longer limited to the traffic safety facilities themselves.And the research on road users’ cognitive characteristics of traffic safety facilities has become a key link in the research of traffic safety facilities.Based on the theoretical research of traffic safety facilities and cognitive psychology,the driving simulation experiment scenes of typical mountain highway linear combination section were designed and built.Specifically,it included driving simulation scenes of typical mountainous highway sections,such as long downhill,small radius turn,broken back curve,reverse turn,combination of curve and slope,continuous turn,long downhill and small radius turn,etc.There were five kinds of facilities in the scenes: warning signs,other traffic signs and markings,anti-collision facilities,line of sight guidance facilities and combination facilities.The corresponding traffic safety facilities were set up to match the different linear conditions,and a total of 40 typical experimental scenes of mountainous highway sections were finally built.The driver’s information cognition of traffic safety facilities was simulated by driving simulation experiment.The experiment recruited 26 subjects,and according to the results of subjective evaluation questionnaire and their actual driving performance,the subjects were divided into four types: safe type,general type,dangerous type and mixed type.From three aspects of driving behavior,dynamic vision and physiological psychology,through descriptive statistical analysis,correlation analysis and graphic comparative analysis,the characteristics of different types of subjects under different types of traffic safety facilities were analyzed.The results of correlation analysis show that there were 28,33 and 5 indexes of driver’s driving behavior,dynamic vision and physiological psychology,respectively,which are significantly correlated with traffic safety facilities.According to the post experiment questionnaire designed based on the theory of planned behavior,the result of the questionnaire was defined as the "recognition paradigm execution" score of the test drivers,and the score was divided into four grades: "poor","average"," better" and "good" by quartile method to represent the information cognition differences of the test drivers.And it’s found that the safe driver’s information cognition result is the best.The comprehensive measure model of the information characteristics of traffic safety facilities was constructed.This paper analyzed the differences of driver’s information cognition between the 55 m lead distance experimental group and the blank group from three aspects of driver’s driving behavior,dynamic vision and physiological psychology by using independent sample t-test method.The results show that,compared with the blank group,in the experimental group with 55 m lead distance traffic safety facilities,there are significant differences between the two groups in driver’s driving behavior,vision and physiological psychology.Based on the results of the difference analysis,the significance,warning,recognizability and semantic comprehensibility of the information characteristics of traffic safety facilities were analyzed.The results show that the selected indicators can represent each information characteristic.The comprehensive measure of the information characteristics of traffic safety facilities was constructed by using the Entropy Weight Method(EWM).The results show that compared with other categories,the comprehensive measurement value of information characteristics of warning signs is the largest.A driver information cognition model based on the information characteristics of traffic safety facilities was constructed.Using Structural Equation Model(SEM),taking traffic safety category and driver type as exogenous latent variables,driver’s driving behavior,dynamic vision,physiological psychology,significance,warning,recognizability and semantic comprehensibility of traffic safety facilities as endogenous latent variables,and various indicators as observation variables,the driver information cognitive model of traffic safety facilities in mountainous areas was constructed,and the influence of exogenous latent variables on endogenous latent variables was analyzed.The results show that the types of traffic safety facilities and drivers have an impact on the driving behavior,dynamic visual and physiological and psychological characteristics of drivers.In conclusion,the research on the construction of driver information cognition model of traffic safety facilities in mountainous areas will help to reduce the occurrence of traffic safety problems caused by insufficient information cognition.At the same time,it can provide technical support for the engineering practice of traffic safety facilities in mountainous areas,and provide corresponding theoretical basis for the improvement of relevant standards and norms.
