Landscape Studies Of The Old Quarters Of Tianjin In The Perspective Of Literature

In the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,Tianjin was transformed into a city with rich commercial activities and unique historical landscape.The Old Quarters Area is the main source of the development of the Tianjin.However,with the burgeon of social economy,the urban landscape,including Tianjin,has gradually lost its regional characteristics.Literary works have created vivid urban cultural landscapes in time and space,and the landscape text information provides a new perspective for the exploration of regional characteristics.Different from the previous research methods,this paper starts from the novels and studies the landscape of the the Old Quarters of Tianjin with the perspective of literary geography.Taking Feng Jicai’s three novels in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China as the research material,including the Eight Diagrams,Three-inch Boundfeet and Worldly people,this thesis systematically studies the literary landscape involved in the three novels with the thought of "Literary scene restoration-Literary landscape image excavation-Literary landscape emotional analysis".To realize the text visualization of landscape elements,the thesis has been conducted by using the National Language Committee’s modern Chinese general balanced corpus and its word segmentation platform combined with manual statistics,mining novel text landscape elements and making map by GIS.Simultaneously,combined with the Pajek and GIS,draw the emotional maps and summary the novel social network relationships to explore the social significance of the landscape and reproduce the historical features of the the Old Quarters of Tianjin in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China and,exploring the causes of the literary landscape.Finally,comparing the literary image with the existing city image,explore the landscape characteristics of the Old Quarters of Tianjin area and propose protection.This paper is devoted to the following five aspects:First,a qualitative analysis of the textual content and a summary of the urban literary scenes with similarities and characteristics in the three novels are given to understand the literary landscape of the Old Quarters of Tianjin and its surrounding areas.Secondly,the landscape elements of literary texts are analyzed quantitatively.Text segmentation and part-of-speech tagging are realized based on the preprocessing text of the online Platform for Modern Chinese,and the segmented text is manually screened and processed.The landscape elements in text information are extracted,and the material landscape elements and non-material landscape elements are summarized according to the classification of cultural landscape.According to word frequency statistics word cloud and GIS,the main literature landscape elements and their distribution characteristics in the Old Quarters of Tianjin area are visualized.Third,draw social network analysis map and emotional map to explore the local emotion and character of the old area.Artificially sort out the relationship between the characters,importing Pajek to draw the social network analysis map.In addition,mine the emotional words into GIS based on sentiment dictionary assignment,and use the kernel density method to draw emotional maps in Lao area.Fourthly,explore the causes of landscape.From the perspective of natural geographical environment and human environment factors,this thesis examines the literary landscape from the perspective of sociology and humanities.Summarize the formation mechanism of literary landscape.Fifthly,Tianjin’s urban characteristics.Compared with the difference between the literary landscape of the Old Quarters of Tianjin area and the current period of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,this thesis summarizes the characteristics of Tianjin’s urban landscape and provides feasible suggestions for the protection of the Old Quarters of Tianjin area.
