The middle and late Ming Dynasty was a prosperous period outstanding in Chinese cultural history,when a variety of ideas collided against each other and societies of scholars were the products of that time.As the main body of gardening practices,scholar groups’ the ideological basis,artistic ideological trends and lifestyles all led the gardening fashion at that time.Studying the formation evolution of scholar groups and analyzing their characteristics is conducive to interpret the artistic composition of gardens and discover gardens’ philosophical roots and cultural connotations from the perspective of gardening subjects.This thesis takes as the object of study the gardening activities of ancient Chinese scholars of ’the literary restoration school’ in the middle and late Ming Dynasty and utilizes research methods including literature analysis,researches on gardening case,etc.to analyze their gardening artistic conceptions and explore their gardening ideas,and it also takes the representative ’Qiuzhi Garden’ of Zhang Fengyi as a case to restore the original design which both restructures the space and reproduces its cultural connation;it also makes horizontal comparisons between ’Qiuzhi Garden’ and other gardens made by members of the same group of scholars so as to discover the evolution trends of gardening ideas and the historical inevitability of sudden changes in garden style in the late Ming Dynasty which provides new ideas for studies on restoration of classic gardens. |
