"Economic development, electric power first",electric energy is playing an increasingly important role in the development of the national economy. The Tibet Autonomous Region’s economy has maintained nearly double-digit rapid growth for more than ten consecutive years, and its economic growth rate is among the highest in the country. With the rapid economic development of Tibet and the increasing living standards of the people in the region, the demand for electricity is increasing. The Tibet Autonomous Region is in a critical period of economic transformation and upgrading. In addition,Tibet has the most abundant clean energy in the country. The development of clean energy is an inevitable trend. It will effectively respond to the national strategic goal of carbon neutrality. In order to achieve the coordinated development of Tibet’s power grid and economic growth,Therefore,it is necessary to fully understand the relationship between power consumption and economic growth in the Tibet Autonomous Region, which has practical guiding significance for promoting the development of the Tibet Autonomous Region’s power grid and promoting the rapid development of Tibet’s economy and economy.Firstly,it analyzes the status quo of power consumption, economic growth, power consumption intensity, and power elasticity coefficient in the Tibet Autonomous Region from 1993 to 2019.Secondly,it is established to include the power consumption, fixed GDP,fixed asset investment, number of employed population, and technological progress in Tibet.VAR model, and used co-integration test,Granger causality test, impulse response, variance decomposition and other methods to study the relationship between them, using the same method to conduct an empirical analysis of the three industries. The empirical analysis results show that there is a long-term stable equilibrium relationship between the power consumption and economic growth of the whole society in Tibet, and the power consumption of the tertiary industry and the economic growth of the tertiary industry. There is a one-way Granger causality from the economic growth of the Tibet Autonomous Region to power consumption, and the output value of the tertiary industry to power consumption.According to the impulse response analysis, the growth of electricity consumption in Tibet has a positive impact on the economic growth of Tibet. The growth of Tibet’s GDP has little effect on the growth of electricity consumption in Tibet. The growth of electricity consumption in the tertiary industry has a positive impact on the growth of the output value of the tertiary industry. There is a continuous negative impact, and the growth of the output value of the tertiary industry and the growth of fixed asset investment have a continuous positive impact on the growth of electricity consumption. The variance decomposition shows that Tibet’s power consumption has a limited contribution to economic growth. The power consumption of the tertiary industry has almost no effect on the output value of the tertiary industry. The power consumption of Tibet is mainly affected by itself. Finally, based on the above research conclusions,in order to promote the coordinated development of power consumption and economy in the Tibet Autonomous Region, this article puts forward targeted Tibet power grid policy recommendations and Tibet economic policy recommendations such as accelerating clean energy development and Tibet power grid construction, and giving priority to the development of industrial power.
