| In the 1970 s,postmodern historiography gradually emerged under the influence of postcolonial theory and the international environment, which deeply criticized traditional historiography and its writing methods.Against this background, international architectural historians have begun writing new general architectural history, among which,American architectural historians have responded positively to the historiography in the new period after the 1980 s,publishing a number of general architecture history books in the past forty years. The new historiography and writing methods in these books have important reference value for the research and writing of the general history of architecture at home. The thesis first analyzes the research status of relevant theories at home and abroad. On this basis,it refers to research results of some domestic and foreign historians to summarize the criticism of postmodern historiography on traditional historiography,of which the objectivity, linear time view and research object are three important aspects. In addition, the thesis also summarizes the problems faced by the writing of the general history of architecture, combining with the previous analysis to analyze and criticize the relevant aspects of general history writing in the new era.The main part of the thesis analyzes three representative works on the general history of architecture in the United States, including " A History of Architecture: Settings and Rituals ","Architecture since 1400" and "A Global History of Architecture".Their historical thoughts, structure, content and writing methods are included in the scope of research. And draw a conclusion that " A History of Architecture: Settings and Rituals" firstly broke the linear time view of traditional architecture writing and Western centralism in writing structure and research objects, and adopted the research method of microhistory."Architecture since 1400" strengthens the narrative of cross-cultural communication and the role of women in the history of architecture on the basis of the former. And the book " The History of Global Architecture " provides a new writing paradigm in writing structure and clues, whose "global vision" of post-modern historiography is perfect.Based on the above analysis, this article points out that the three books represent the development trend of the general architectural writing of the United States. They are constantly exploring more objective writing structures, emphasizing the global perspective and the connection between architecture and the multi-level environment, and gradually attempting to introduce micro-historical writing methods. These new historiographical thoughts and writing practices have provided a very useful reference for the compilation, selection and teaching of the general architectural history textbooks in China. The full text is about 64,000 words, with 77 pictures and 8 tables. |
