| In the background of constructing beautiful transportation corridors and implementing Rural Revitalization Strategy,ordinary highway service area improve the service level of ordinary highway and service local residents’ lives and rural economy based on geographical transportation advantages.However,eraly studies concentrated on the standard expressway service area,without considering planning and construction of ordinary highway service area.Few theoretical research focus on the selection and location of ordinary highway service area.Thus it is necessary to increase the research on the functions and location planning of ordinary highway service area in the background of countryside.This study proposes a method for category selection and location planning of ordinary highway service area and provides suggestions for the planning and setting of ordinary highway service area in the case of Xiangshan,Ningbo.Functional needs of users are analysed to define the functions of ordinary highway service areas and types of service area.The contents and process of this study is shown as following aspects:(1)Fist,functional requirements of ordinary highway service area is investigated.Classfication of ordinary highway service area and corresponding function needs are defined based on survey findings.(2)A logit category selection model is deveopled to calculate the probability of four different tytpes of service area considering natural environment,human resources,socioeconomics,and transportation network.A gravity model is built to determine the final location selection process by variables of the population size of the candidate point,the population size of the nearest town,and the distance between the two places.(3)The methods of determining type of service area and location selection have been applied in the case of Xiangshan,Ningbo.The main findings of this study are as follows:(1)According to the survey,needs for basic transportation services and consumer functions such as parking and rest,toileting,dining,and shopping are the most used.It is expected to add functions of sepcial severice such as specialty catering,specialty product sales,and cultural experiences.Based on the needs of users to orientate service area’s function.Ordinary highway service area is classified as four types as "basic transportation service function","basic transportation function plus consumption function","basic transportation functions plus consumer function plus tourism function",and "basic transportation function plus consumption function plus tourism function plus cultural function".(2)According to the result of probability,the type of service area is determined which based on the logit category selection model.(3)A gravity model is built and the location of the service area is determined by comparing the radiation value of the alternatives.(4)Considering the transportation planning,characteristic resource distribution,and population and economic conditions,it is suggested to construct seven ordinary highway service areas in Xiangshan.Among them,there are two "basic transportation service functional" type service areas,a "basic transportation function plus consumption function" type service areas,two "basic transportation functions plus consumer function plus tourism function" type service areas and two "basic transportation function plus consumption function plus tourism function plus cultural function" type service areas.From the perspective of functional positioning,this paper proposes the category selection and site selectionplaning methods.We also applied the methods to a case of Xiangshan Ningbo to verify the effect of the two methods.The research provides solutions for the functional positioning and site selection planning of ordinary highway service area in theory.Meanwhile,it also provides suggestions for the construction of ordinary highway service area under the background of building beautiful transportation corridors and rural revitalization in Xiangshan. |
