Safety System Design For Fall Prevention Of Elderly Apartments—Based On Environment-Behavior Research

With the development of society and the improvement of medical treatment level,the life expectancy of the elderly is far beyond the previous level.Since the end of last century,the developed countries in Europe declared to enter the aging society firstly,and China also entered the aging society in 1999.In this social context,the happiness index of the elderly has become the emphasis of social development,and the home safety of the elderly has become the priority,especially the problem of falls in the family.According to statistics,the annual injury caused by falls of the elderly in China is 40 million;among them,4.57 million are the annual death cases of falls of the elderly,so that falls become the second cause of death,just next to the cause of disease injury,and more than 50% of them happened indoors.The elderly fall down outdoor can can get help because of the opening of outdoor environment,but which happend indoors is hard to get help from medical personnel because of space privacy.In order to solve the risk of falling at home,this paper proposes to analyze the home environment and behavior of the elderly from the perspective of environment-behavior research,analyze the home behavior of the elderly,determine the key to the fall risks,and hope to use these relevant contents to design a product for the elderly living in the apartment to avoid fall risk and improve the safety and happiness index of the elderly.Some experts reported that with the development of aging society,centralized pension will become the major pattern in the near future.The paper does a study based on the apartment ofelderly,which is a try to study elderly people’s home falls in the centralized pension pattern.Based on the daily life of the elderly,this article will observe and record the daily life of the elderly at home through a large number of field investigations and data surveys.First of all,the living space of the elderly is divided into categories,the use of different spaces is determined,and the behavior in the space is statistically calculated to output the space-behavior distribution in the home environment.Second,analyze the evaluation indicators of the elderly home environment safety standard scale,and get the risk factors of fall.Then,cross-contrast the spatial-behavioraldistribution of the elderly with the risk factors,establish the correlation between the spatial-behavioral-risk factors,and use environmental-behavioral research methods to prevent falls in elderly apartments based on the correlation.Research on safety product system,output characteristics and specific content of design system.Finally,the design practice is based on the fall prevention safety product design system of the elderly apartment,and the effectiveness design verification is performed to test the validity of the output theory and the feasibility of the design practice results.In this paper,the elderly home space behavior model is the starting point of design research,and provides design theory and reference suggestions for solving the problem of elderly people’s home falls.This new research perspective is also a bold attempt of this paper.I hope that the relevant theoretical content can provide reference for later researchers,and constantly optimize and enhance the professionalism and effectiveness of the elderly design.
