Research On The Relevance Between RCR Arquitectes’ Works And Abstract Art

RCR Arquitectes,winner of the Pritzker Architecture Award in 2017,combines the lyricism and rationality of architecture.Their architectural works establish a dialogue with the environment in a concise architectural form and highly tactile materials,balancing the relationship between the natural and the artificial,history and modernity,materiality and transparency.RCR Arquitectes dealing with space elements such as light,void,transparency and touch with extremely abstract design techniques.They explore the pure aesthetics of graphics,lines and proportions,construct a unique space design language and create a poetic space atmosphere.Therefore,their architectural works show strong abstract artistic characteristics,reflecting the thinking and practice of architecture under the non-traditional mode.This paper takes Abstract art as the starting point and RCR Arquitectes as the main research object.Connect and contrast the two,analyze RCR Arquitectes’ abstract design thoughts,refine and summarize their abstract design techniques,and explore the relationship between their architectural works and abstract art works.This paper mainly divides into three levels: Firstly,the origin and background of RCR Arquitectes’ architectural design works and their abstract ideas are systematically sorted out,as well as the abstract art works and artists’ thoughts associated with RCR Arquitectes design ideas,and the connection points between RCR Arquitects and abstract art creation ideas are analyzed.Furthermore,the paper analyses the relationship between the two themes in the development of abstract art‘geometric abstraction’ and ‘lyrical abstraction’ and RCR Arquitectes’ creative techniques.On this basis,the paper analyzed the geometric abstract design method of RCR Arquitectes’ architectural works from three aspects of architectural form,virtual space and architectural details by graphic analysis method,and discussed and interpreted the lyric abstract design method of RCR Arquitectes’ architectural works in detail from three aspects of emotional expression: color and shadow,material technology and space scene.Finally,the paper makes a summary of the relationship between the two in terms of creative ideas and techniques,and the enlightenment and discussion in the process of this research.
