Recently,advances in engineering technology such as automobile materials and manufacturing processes have provided more possibilities for the surface relationship of automobile designing,especially for automobile designing style,and also provided opportunities for the formation of new automobile designing styles.While technological development brings new evolutionary opportunities for automobile designing style,it also brings certain challenges.The continuous change of people’s aesthetic needs puts forward higher requirements for the beauty of automobile styling,so designers are facing greater challenges.Under the constantly developing technical background,how designers can accurately grasp the automobile designing styles and what characteristics the light and shadow of them have become the theoretical and practical problems to be solved in automobile styling design.This paper takes the light and shadow features of the automobile characteristics surface as research object,studies and analyzes the features and attributes of light and shadow of the characteristics surface from the perspective of automobile designing style,and then proposes the styling design idea and design methodology based on light and shadow features of the characteristics surface,and preliminarily verifies the feasibility of this method in practice.Firstly,taking automobile characteristic surface as the theoretical basis,the basic concepts are expounded,and the meaning and classification of the automobile characteristic surfaces are summarized.According to the functional area and the influence on the designing style,the characteristic surfaces are divided into 7characteristic surface groups.The features and attributes of light and shadow are derived from the characteristic surface,and the generation and development trajectory of the light and shadow features are discussed with the clues of the evolution of specific vehicle models.Then,the relationship between the characteristic surface and the light and shadow features is analyzed from the aspect attribute level of the characteristic surface.In order to further understand the light and shadow features of the characteristic surfaces,the single form of the automobile characteristic surface is obtained by the digital modeling process,and the influencing factors of the light and shadow features of the characteristic surface are obtained through the light and shadow features and attributes of the base form of the characteristic surface.In order to accurately describe and compare the light and shadow features,based on the analysis process of the influencing factors of the light and shadow features,five key attributes of the light and shadow features of the characteristic surfaces are proposed.The sample model with the most obvious styling bias was obtained through the Surveying Questionnaire of Automobile Characteristic Surface Styles,and the A-class surface reconstruction of the sample models was performed to obtain the light and shadow attributes of their respective characteristic surfaces groups.Three styles of light and shadow features are obtained from the similarity of the light and shadow attributes of the feature quilts in different styles.By studying the light and shadow attributes of various styles,the light and shadow attributes corresponding to each style and the characteristic surface modeling characteristics of the style can be obtained,thereby obtaining the design method of automobile characteristic surface oriented to the light and shadow feature style.At the same time,the continuation relationship between each light and shadow feature style and historical designing style is analyzed in combination with the development history of specific vehicle models.The design practice topic in this paper is derived from the design assignment of Nissan brand in CDN Competition.The design goal is to create a new vehicle in outer space in 2040,and propose the vision of Nissan interplanetary design.In the process of design practice,this paper uses digital modeling tools and combines different styles to summarize the styling design methods based on the features of light and shadow.The design includes environmental analysis,relevant case analysis,brand image analysis,engineering layout,scheme design and review,and digital modeling and rendering effects display. |
