As the technologies are advancing every day,the national education system is benefited by the technological innovations.As an important part of the education system,it has been noticed that the primary and secondary schools are facing the challenges,specifically,the educational requirements for infrastructures tend to be more complicated.Typically,the schools find it is hard to adapt the changes brought by the growth of the cities.As the urbanization is thriving in some areas in China,some cities are showing the fact that the low level of free capacity of the city lowers the quality of the educational infrastructures.There are many people have concerns that the overloaded city cannot satisfy the demand of the education system.Therefore,there is a heated discussion about balancing the requirements of the schools’ infrastructures and the development of the city itself.Furthermore,the priority is designing a solution which satisfies the needs of the schools when the free capacity of the city is extremely limited.Establishing a sustainable mechanism which allows the primary and secondary schools to develop themselves under a high-density city is the key to design the solution.The research on the design of primary and secondary schools in high-density urban environment is based on the analysis of the development process of the primary and secondary schools and the current situation of domestic education of those schools.This research interprets the problems and opportunities faced by the construction of primary and secondary schools in high-density urban environment in China.With the help of the analysis of the relevant theories,it constructs the main context of this research: to establish and explore the relationship between schools and cities and seeking high-density campus development mode.On this basis,the paper puts forward the design principles:the times,the city,the intensification,and the integrity as the macro clues of the whole research.Because the design of primary and secondary schools in the high-density urban environment in Shenzhen is pioneering and typical,Shenzhen is selected as an example to carry out the specific research.The purpose of this study is to update and supplement the traditional campus and the design methods for the high-density urban environment.In Chapter 3 and 4,through the analysis of the existing problems and needs from the two aspects of the relationship between the city and the campus,and the internal order construction of the high-density campus,combined with the relevant cases of innovative solutions to sort out and summarize the corresponding complete design strategies.In order to further understand the internal relationship and the essence of these strategies,Chapter 5 explores the stable and systematic design thinking behind these strategies by looking back at them,and finally concludes them as "strengthening the urban attribute of the school","understanding the school as understanding the city","campus strain under multiple restrictions",so as to reveal the high-density urban environment of primary and secondary schools.The thinking essence of the design also makes the research results more complete and vital.At last,the paper introduces the application process of strategy and the thinking mode,while reviewing the design,combining with the renewal design scheme of Guiyuan middle school and Dongchang primary school in Shenzhen.Both schemes are powerful explorations of the new campus mode in the high-density urban environment.
