A Study On The Landscape Construction Of Public Art In The Old Industrial Space Of Guangzhou

Urban renewal is the new trend of urban development in recent years in China.The old industrial space is one of the important carriers in urban renewal.The transformation and reuse of the old industrial space in Guangzhou can promote the development of the economy and culture of Guangzhou.As the spiritual symbol and cultural core of the landscape,public art represents the mass culture,social humanistic value and aesthetic connotation.With the continuous progress of society and people’s pursuit of spiritual civilization,public art plays an increasingly important role.On September 27,2019,Guangzhou municipal government deliberated and passed The Interim Measures of Guangzhou for Promoting the Development of Urban Public Art Construction,which is a normative document for urban public art formed by Guangzhou with reference to domestic and foreign experience,and is of great significance for improving the environment and enhancing artistic taste of Guangzhou urban public space,ultimately realizing the landscape construction of public art in industrial space.Based on the relevant theoretical study and case study,this paper,with the old industrial space of Guangzhou as the research object,first combs the development and current situation of Guangzhou public art and the landscape transformation of old industrial space,summarizes the two forms and three artistic ways of public art’s involvement in the old industrial space of Guangzhou.And then,a field research on many old industrial spaces of Guangzhou is conducted.Among them,five representative old industrial spaces are selected for a detailed comparison study.After that,the general characteristics of public art in Guangzhou old industrial space are summarized,with its problems and shortcomings pointed out as well.Furthermore,aiming at these problems,seven principles and five design elements that public art should follow in the landscape construction of Guangzhou old industrial space are put forward.Finally,it is suggested to establish and improve the evaluation system of the public art design in the old industrial space and public participation system,with three feasible ways of public participation proposed.
