Research On Craft And Pattern Of Tujia Brocade In Western Hunan

Tujia brocade,also known as Xilankapu,is one of the most outstanding folk handicrafts of Tujia people.Its historical origin and development are the microcosm of the social development course of The Tujia region in northwestern Hunan and the reflection of the development of the Tujia social productive forces on both sides of the Youshui River.The lever principle of Tujia brocade and the way of picking flowers through broken weaves tell the historical process of ancient civilization and pass on the design wisdom of tujia people.The rich and free patterns of Tujia brocade are known as Tujia history "written" on fabric.This paper will study and explain the artistic characteristics and development status of tujia brocade in Western Hunan from four aspects.Firstly,I have summarized the historical development of Tujia brocade and the folk culture it carries.Secondly,after fieldwork in Longshan,Zhangjiajie and other places in Xiangxi,I will analyze the accessories and tools of the tujia brocade looms,thread-making process,installation and wiring process,and weaving techniques in detail,and try to clarify the material and function of each tool,the operation and purpose of each process.Thirdly,based on the information collection of tujia brocade in the Ethnic Costume Museum of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology,we will analyze the styling features,color features and aesthetic principles of the Tujia brocade,and understand the simple and advanced aesthetic pursuit and unique ethnic culture of the Tujia through communication with the language of pattern styling.Fourthly,combined with what I have seen and thought in the field investigation,I comprehensively analyzed the production and design status of Tujia brocade,analyzed and described the change points of tujia brocade today,and provided some thoughts and suggestions for the development of Tujia brocade in western Hunan.It is hoped that through the research on the craftsmanship,modeling features and development status of Tujia brocade in western Hunan,a deep understanding of the aesthetic and design wisdom of the tujia people will be gained,and the deeper connotation of traditional ethnic culture can be grasped,so as to gain deeper ethnic confidence.At the same time,the society is called to pay more attention to the protection of traditional contents.
