On The Trend Of Westernization Of Women’s Clothing In The Media Of Coastal Areas During The Republic Of China

During the period of the Republic of China,coastal areas were the first open areas to receive the influence of western economy,thought,and culture.Under the influence of western fashion trends,their women’s clothing had undergone tremendous changes,which were directly reflected in the local newspapers at that time.At the same time,affected by regional differences,the images of women’s clothing in newspapers and magazines in coastal areas showed their own characteristics of westernization from north to south.This article explores the trend of westernized women’s Republic of China coastal areas,coastal areas to the content of the information published in the press in the Republic of China women’s Westernization trend as the main object,select the northern coast(Shandong Case Study),middle(Shanghai Case Study),the southern part(Guangdong Case Study)are the key research areas.Based on the data collection of the research object,collect and compare information from four aspects of women’s clothing styles and fabrics,accessories,makeup and hair,and fashion concepts,and summarize the influence of western fashion trends on women’s clothing in coastal areas during the Republic of China.The role of harmony reveals the typical characteristics of inclusive women’s clothing in coastal areas during the Republic of China,reforms and new trends,and advocacy of Western fashion.On this basis,the three regions are compared horizontally with geographical distribution as the dividing standard.According to the western fashion information in the newspapers,the introduction and review of local women’s clothing and the understanding of their fashion value,the comparison is made from the relationship between women’s style selection and the flow of time,the influence of western countries and the relationship between regions,fabric selection and industry.Analyzing the relationship of development in three aspects,it is concluded that Shanghai women’s clothing is moving closer to western upper-class clothing fashion,Guangdong women’s clothing styles are innovative and bold,style preferences are free and unrestrained,and Shandong women’s clothing tends to be conservative and elegant.The development of fashion trends complement each other and contain each other.In view of the different acceptance levels of women’s clothing in the coastal areas in the process of westernization,the influencing factors are deeply studied,and in-depth discussions are conducted from the aspects of human factors,geographical environment,original clothing industry and clothing policies.Summarizing its political performance and aesthetic connotation,it also reflects from the outside to the inside the difference in the ability of different regions to cope with the influence of Western fashion trends and the integration of China and the West.The northern coastal area is represented by Shandong.Due to the development needs of the cotton industry,the promotion of national products has become an important representative of restraining the development of westernization;the central coastal area is centered on Shanghai,and the opening of ports has made it extremely politically inclusive.The westernization trend of women’s clothing is also the first to adopt the trend;the southern coastal area takes Guangdong as an example,while promoting the development of domestic products,it also accepts the influence of western fashion trends.The pace of policy advancement is small and the content is narrow.Generally speaking,in the context of the influence of western fashion trends,the coastal areas show different preferences for women’s clothing due to their unique geographical backgrounds.The costumes of the Republic of China are a highlight in the history of Chinese clothing,and coastal areas have played a pioneering role in it that cannot be underestimated.Based on the information on women’s clothing in newspapers and periodicals,this article portrays the image of women’s clothing in coastal areas and provides reference value for the study of women’s clothing westernization trends and images of women in coastal areas during the Republic of China.Starting from the regional differences in women’s clothing trends,this article explores the connotation of social development.The fruitful results of the blending of Chinese and Western clothing in modern times have promoted the process of contemporary Chinese and foreign clothing exchanges.
