The industrial economy has brought certain pressure to the ecological environment while boosting social and economic development.Low-carbon transition is an inevitable trend of China's sustainable development.Reducing carbon emissions and improving carbon emission efficiency are important goals for China's current and future economic and social development.At present,the Chinese government regards green and low-carbon development as an important part of the construction of ecological civilization,and incorporates energy conservation and emission reduction as a binding indicator into its national economy and sustainable development plans.Carbon emission efficiency is an effective measure of the quality of economic development.Improving carbon emission efficiency is a key content of promoting regional low-carbon transition under the requirements of high-quality economic development.As the largest heavy industry base in northern China,Liaoning Province has a large proportion of machinery,petrochemical,and metallurgical industries,with high energy consumption and high carbon emissions.How to maintain high-quality economic growth while reducing carbon emissions is a severe challenge facing the economic development of Liaoning Province.Therefore,the article selects Liaoning Province as the research object,analyzes the temporal and spatial evolution characteristics and differential evolution mechanism of carbon emission efficiency in Liaoning Province from the cognitive level to the practical level,from the time pattern to the spatial pattern,and uses geographic detectors.The model explores the factors that affect the spatial distribution of carbon emission efficiency levels,which not only has important reference significance for the related theories and applications of carbon emission efficiency research,but also provides theoretical support and policy reference for the realization of emission reduction targets in Liaoning Province.This paper first builds an evaluation index system for carbon emission efficiency,uses the super-efficiency SBM model to measure the carbon emission efficiency levels of 14prefecture-level cities in Liaoning Province,and explores the development trend of carbon emission efficiency in Liaoning Province.In terms of time,the carbon emission efficiency of Liaoning Province shows a trend of first decreasing and then increasing,with a large gap between regions.From a spatial perspective,the spatial pattern of carbon emission efficiency levels presents an imbalance.Most cities in the province are at a low level of efficiency.High-efficiency areas are concentrated in Shenyang,Dalian,and Fushun,and low-efficiency areas are concentrated in Chaoyang,Tieling,Liaoyang,and Huludao.Relying on the relatively good level of economic development and policy support in Shenyang,the carbon emission efficiency value has always been at the forefront of the province.The study found that the carbon emissions and efficiency of Liaoning Province showed obvious spatial dispersion to spatial agglomeration over time,and the carbon emission efficiency was mainly spatial dispersion.The spatial transfer trend of carbon emissions and efficiency is stable,and the spatial stability of the southeast coastal region is higher than that of other regions.Regarding the analysis of the influencing factors of the carbon emission efficiency of Liaoning province,this paper uses the geographic detector model to analyze the carbon emission efficiency of Liaoning province.Human capital level,fiscal decentralization,urbanization level,and environmental regulations all have a positive impact on carbon emission efficiency.Among them,the level of human capital has the strongest positive driving effect on carbon emission efficiency.Finally,on the basis of the above content,relevant suggestions are put forward for improving the carbon emission efficiency of Liaoning province.
