ObjectiveIn order to analyze the cephalon-facial phenotype of Daur nationality adults in Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang,in addition, compare cephalon-facial phenotypic differences between Daur nationality in Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang, and compare the cephalon-facial phenotypic differences between Daur nationality and other nationality in China.Furthermore, for the purpose of investigating the reasons and principles of the the physical characteristics evolution of Daur nationality and providing reference evidences for the following research on the progenitor source relationship of Daur nationality.MethodsWith informed consent, healthy adults of the Daur nationality were randomly selected to be studied, and their parents were both of Daur nationality,a total of 645 cases(325 males and 320 females)were investigated.According to the anthropometric methods,40 items were measured, and 5 items of cephalon-facial index were calculated.SPSS20.0statistical software was used for descriptive statistical analysis,chi-square test, independent sample t-test,cluster analysis and other statistical processing.Results1.Most of the Daur nationality in Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang had straight hair, moderate zygomatic protrusion, convex or straight chin, moderate eyebrows,no upper eyelid fold,no beauty ditch, low or medium nasal root height, straight nasal dorsal profile, horizontal or upward nasal base, and inclined nostril maximum diameter, the similarity of these cephalon-facial phenotypic characteristics might be related to the genetic factors of the Daur nationality.2.Except for the vertex to tragion height and the thickness of the upper red lip, there were significant differences in the other 18 cephalometric indexes between the Daur nationality in Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang(P < 0.01).The specific results were as follows: Except that the width of paropia and mouth fissure in Inner Mongolia group were larger than those in Xinjiang group, most of the measurement indexes in Xinjiang group were larger than those in Inner Mongolia group(P < 0.01).In the data comparison between genders, most of the data showed that men were larger than women(P < 0.01).3.There were some differences between the Inner Mongolia group and the Xinjiang group in the cephalon-facial index classification. In Inner Mongolia group, mesocephalic, hypsicephalic, leptocephaly, hyperleptoprosopic, mesorrhine are more common, while in Xinjiang group, brachycephalic, hypsicephalic, leptocephaly, hyperleptoprosopic and leptorrhin are more common.4.The results of cluster analysis showed that: among the males, the Daur nationality in Inner Mongolia,Hezhe,Oroqen and other Northeast people have been determined as one cluster, while the Daur nationality in Xinjiang was a group of its own, however, with representing the closest clustering relationship with the Daur males in Inner Mongolia and the Mongolian Balhu tribe.Among the females,Daur nationality in Inner Mongolia was the same cluster with Han nationality,Manchu nationality,Hezhe nationality and Oroqen nationality in Northeast China. In addition, the Daur nationality in Xinjiang,Kazak nationality,Kirgiz nationality and other northwest people were in the same cluster.Conclusions1.There were significant differences in the measurement indexes of the cephalon-facial between the Daur nationality in Inner Mongolia and the Daur nationality in Xinjiang. The average value of each index of the Daur nationality in Xinjiang was higher than that of the Daur nationality in Inner Mongolia.According to index classification,Inner Mongolia group was mesoce-phaly,hypsicephalic,acrocephalic,hyperleptoprosopy and mesorrhiny;while Xinjiang group was brachycephaly, hypsicephalic, acrocephalic, hyperleptoprosopy and leptorrhiny.2.The observation indexes of the cephalon-facial of Daur nationality adults in Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang were similar: Most of them had straight hair, moderate zygomatic protrusion, convex or straight chin, moderate eyebrows,no upper eyelid fold,no beauty ditch, low or medium nasal root height, straight nasal dorsal profile, horizontal or upward nasal base, and inclined nostril maximum diameter.3.The Daur nationality in Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang had the characteristics of Mongolian nationality, and the cephalon-facial phenotypic characteristics were closer to the East Asian type of Mongolian nationality.
