With the rapid development of Internet technology and human-computer interaction technology,network map is an important interactive medium for users to obtain spatial geographic information on the Internet.Its expression form is more and more abundant,and the geographic information service function is constantly expanding and perfecting.What kind of network map is the user's satisfactory map has always been an important content for network map researchers.Analyzing the usability of web maps is important for improving web map design and improving the user experience of web maps.However,most of the research methods of network map usability can only qualitatively evaluate the network map and have strong subjectivity.As an innovative method of cartographic theory research,eye movement experiment can explain the cognitive process of map and provide qualitative and quantitative scientific basis in objective and real-time.It has been applied more and more in the evaluation of network map usability abroad,However,there are few applications in the domestic network map usability evaluation research.The ultimate goal of this paper is to summarize the general problems of the availability of domestic network maps through the evaluation of the usability of domestic network maps,and to provide relevant improvements from the perspective of network map design.This paper takes four popular network maps as the research object,and uses the eye movement experiment method to conduct usability research on the interface layout and interactive functions of different network maps,and test the cognitive differences of different users in the typical tasks of performing network maps in various network map products,and perform statistical analysis on each eye movement(behavior)index parameters of individual tasks as a quantitative basis for usability evaluation;using questionnaires and qualitative interviews to qualitatively evaluate the availability of different network maps for assistance the quantitative evaluation results of eye movement experiments;Final summed up the common problems of the availability of various network maps,and proposed the improvement of domestic network map design.The specific research work of this paper mainly has the following aspects:1.Determine the usability evaluation content of the network map according to the network map design principle.It is the interface layout and interactive function.Combine the eye movement experiment method with the traditional usability evaluation method to conduct the usability test research on the network map,and evaluate the usability index and eye movement.Corresponding to the eye movement parameters obtained by the test,the eye movement indicators for studying the availability problem of the network map are determined.Finally,based on the evaluation content of the usability,the evaluation method and the evaluation index,a network map usability evaluation model based on the eye movement experiment is constructed.2.A usability test experiment based on eye tracking technology was designed.The questionnaire survey method and the qualitative interview method were used to obtain the qualitative evaluation content of the network map usability,and the eye movement experiment method was used to obtain the quantitative evaluation index of the network map usability.In the design of eye movement experiments,the focus of the research is on the selection of stimulating materials and subjects,and the design of experimental tasks.The principle of experimental task design is to meet the needs of most users for daily use of network maps.Finally,according to the characteristics of each task,the eye movement evaluation index is determined,and the eye movement experiment data is processed.3.According to the eye movement video and eye movement(behavior)data obtained by the eye movement experiment test,the results of each eye movement evaluation index of each task are analyzed one by one,and the difference of each network map in each index is evaluated.The availability of different network maps,and systematically summed up the differences in the availability of the four network maps;Finally,based on these differences,the common problems of domestic network maps in usability assessment are extracted,and relevant improvements are given from the perspective of network map design.
