Pleurozia Dum.is a genus with special monograph and has a very important placement in the whole liverworts taxonomic system. The genus also possesses a high research value.Although there are only 12 species among the whole world, the genus has an extremely wide distrbution.Nearly half of species in the genus only grow in restricted places and are treated as endangered plants.Due to the difficulties in the specimen collection and preservation, there has been no molecular phylogenetic analyses of the genus in China or other countries.Similarly, there is a lack of molecular data from a systematic study using morphological-anatomical and molecular phylogenetic methods.Hence,it is highly significant to investigate the taxonomics of the genus Pleurozia. The thesis focused on the collection of the molecular data, which used plastid markers rbc L and trn L-F,as well as nuclear marker 26 S.A combination of morphological-anatomica method and the molecular phylogenetic method was used in the study. The major results are as follows:1).A confirmation of 14 species of Pleurozia in the world.2).Newly designed 9 pairs of primers to amplify the DNA of Pleurozia,as common primers failed to amplified the sequences. The primers include:rbc L primers:Q1F,Q1R;Q2F,Q2R;Q13F,Q13R;Q15F,Q15R;Q27F,Q27R;26S primers:Q3F,Q3R;Q7F,Q7R;Q9F,Q9R;Q10F,Q10R;3).Discovery of a new species,Pleurozia suleimanae R.L.Zhu et Y.Q.Chen that is endemic to Sabah.4).Resurrection a subgenus Exauriculata by putting P.paradoxa as the type and only species existing in the subgenus.5).Revision of a new record P.caledonica which was mistakenly reported to Hainan,China.6).A new record,P.articulata,to China.7).Resurrection of a synonym Pleurozia simplicissima Herzog.8).Proposal of the placement of P.pocsii under subg.Diversifolia.This study also provide keys to every species and colorful photographs of them.
