Abstract/Summary:
Implementing a formal system of operation like Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII) is a major innovation for any company. Top management of the organization must be involved in the implementation; but not involved when it comes to detail, involved in a leadership capacity. The number one priority of an organization is running the business. When implementing an MRPII system, the implementation should be the second priority.;Education of the CEO, top management, middle managers, and the employees is essential when implementing MRPII. An Executive Steering Committee must then be established to oversee the implementation, receiving its information from a project team headed by a project leader. The project team is responsible for managing the details involved in the project schedule, but top management is ultimately responsible for ensuring the successful implementation. However, people, the employees, are the key to successful implementation. They use the system, and they make it work.
