Abstract/Summary:
As literacy continues to evolve, so does our ability to learn, interpret and teach. Over the last few decades, teaching has taken on a new dimension, one that may be referred to as the digital dimension of instruction. A variety of media have entered the lives of students outside of the classroom. Information that was once confined within the pages of a book is now available at the click of a button, or in many cases our own finger tips with mobile devices. With access to this readily available information, the approaches, techniques, applications and assessments that are used in classroom instruction have changed. Skills that colleges and employers expect the current generation of students to possess have become the responsibility of the public education system to instill in today's youth. As such, how this information is being practiced, demonstrated, and internalized by students and teachers has changed.
