Abstract/Summary:
Vehicle systems and networks are susceptible to physical and remote attack due to vulnerabilities and poor implementation of protocols, broadcast messages, lack of data confidentiality, lack of authentication, and week key algorithms. The compromise of vehicle systems and networks could have serious safety implications for consumers. Government regulations for automobiles address safety and operation of vehicles but lack focus on cybersecurity. Implementation of encryption, PKI principles, hardened systems, network segmentation, intrusion detection and firewalls may be beneficial for the security of vehicle networks.
