Female Athletes Subverted by the Male Gaze and Exploited by Mass Media

This paper will examine female athletes as portrayed through mass media and establish the negative affect that the influences have on women in society. It intends to reveal how the guidance of mass media coverage in athletics reinforces preexisting social formations that have molded gender identities.
