Abstract/Summary:
Random and systematic errors are found in process data obtained from measurement devices, mainly due to equipment malfunction, inaccuracies or failure. A drift in the process could be expected, if these errors are not found and corrected in time, resulting in losses due to inefficient operation, production of off-spec products etc. In previous research at Texas A&I University, a computer program was developed to detect errors and reconcile the data.; In this study, the Modified Iterative Measurement Test (MIMT) is applied to a non-equilibrium flash distillation system with a non-linear programming technique in the data reconciliation step. The unmeasured variable, the flash efficiency is also estimated.; The effect of solving the system with non-linear programming in the data reconciliation step is evaluated.
