Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this paper is to describe the ways in which a foreign based concrete pump company maintained its competitiveness through continuous improvement.; Continuous improvement is an ongoing effort to upgrade performance in every area within an organization. The tools and methods used for its implementation may vary among users. To be successful, the effort must originate and be supported by top management, and everyone must understand it and participate. The organization is the starting point and improvement commences with change in the system of management and the willingness of everybody to accept change.; To achieve long lasting results, a continuous improvement effort must include design/manufacturing and all the business processes, the involvement of trained individuals and the resulting improvement in products. Suppliers and customers play a major role in continuous improvement. Ultimate goals are rarely visible. The journey for successful continuous improvement is expected to last forever.
