Abstract/Summary:
As the world's largest designer and manufacturer of electrostatic measurement equipment, control instrumentation, and high voltage amplifiers, Trek Incorporated needed an improved method of collecting data and a more effective way of utilizing that data for problem solving. Historically, not much emphasis was placed on data collection and the information collected was seldom used for process improvement. In other words, Trek spends considerable resources generating data and reports that are not effectively utilized.; The purpose of this study is to implement a Continuous Improvement plan that provides a more efficient method for collecting and analyzing data to enhance Trek's manufacturing processes and positively affect revenue. The material referenced for this study comes from a variety of manufacturing process improvement strategies. Application of the Continuous Improvement concepts found in these strategies are intended to develop a database capable of identifying and addressing the most significant problem areas in order of priority.
