| Femwater data files, similar to Geographic Information System (GIS) files, are very large making it difficult to store, analyze, access and manage the data contained in them. This problem arises even at the supercomputer level. The data must be stored in such a manner that its management, storage, subsetting, and visualization become easy. Hierarchical Data Format (HDF5) is a data format for storing scientific data. HDF5 format is more suitable for the storage and management of Femwater data. But, Femwater data cannot be directly stored in HDF5. Therefore, Femwater data is being converted to suit HDF5 format-using conversion programs in C. Conversion from HDF5 back to Femwater is also done. Another conversion from HDF5 to Ensight for visualization of the datasets is also done. A user-friendly interface is developed for the data conversions and visualization. |
