| All radio systems have to be spectrally efficient and cost effective. A cell phone system should not interfere with other users and must provide a long battery life. An indispensable element of the radio system is the power amplifier. Unfortunately, this component is a major origin of the distortion in RF signals. Operating a power amplifier in its linear region makes it inefficient. To meet the demand of linearity and efficiency, the self bias power amplifier is designed to offer a linear and an efficient operation at the same time. This thesis presents the development and the experimental results of the self biased amplifier. The results show that the new circuit outperforms the commonly used amplifiers. |
