With the continuous development of radar technology, many novel radars such as radar-ECM-communication versatile systems, multibeam radars appear, they all demand wide-band, linearity, high power of solid-state power amplifiers. This thesis is urged by the demand, intend to research a L-band linear wide-band power amplifier (PA). Because this PA has the features of broad operating band and high linearity, and it can work in CW or pulse state, wide-band matching, power back-off, drain power modulating, and other technologies are used in the design. Auto power control is discussed as the requirement of controllable output power of amplifier. In practice circuits are designed carefully and simulated by EDA software. Finally the amplifier can meet the specifications.The non-linearity of PA is analyzed at first, especially in the condition of large-signal, which lay the necessary foundation for the design of linear PA. Then some current advanced methods of PA linearization, for example, predistortion and feed-forward, are introduced. In the following wideband matching technology is discussed in detail. At last this thesis expounds that concrete design and the implementations of each module in this PA, and provides the test results.
